Nope, they come shiny and new looking...All the wear on my bass is from playing and lots and lots of gigs.

@funk7856 is the checking on that G&L authentic? Either way it looks amazing.

To the guys posting their distressed basses, It would be cool if you said if it was authentic or not. Saves me from asking the same annoying question every other post.

Nice ebony board w/that lighter streak. I have a friend who has a similar year G&L guitar and it has an amazing checked and distressed gold finish. eventually I'll get some pics of it to post.

Looks like you play a lot from the neck pu judging by the wear. Interesting ripple-effect.

I do a fair bit, I sort of float and use the B string a lot also. It is interesting how the hardness of the maple varies depending on the color within the quilting. The back of the bass has the same quilting and it's really 3D from 20+ years of riding against a sweaty shirt.
