Awesome - that's pretty much as close as I've seen to my birth year/month (Jan '53) yet! Is the 'inscription' LISA, or USA? ...or? Thanks for posting!![]()
I’m sure you’ve seen this. Coincidental that they formed in 1953.Says, Leo and Leo turbans
My son and I did a big search on Google and found nothing.
Thank-you for your interest.

You’re welcome. The Turbans was a band I had known about. I was kind of hoping you had bought the bass in Philly, home of The Turbans. If your bass was affiliated to this band, the name might be something other than Leo. We may never know.Thank-you sooooo much for this info. Who knows? Maybe my 1953 was the bass for this band.........???????
As far as I know, this 1953 originated from California because it was being sold at the Guitar Center in Hollywood. This bass sat there for 5 years, no buyers! (Until me.) So, I'm assuming that Leo turbans were a So Cal band. I was thinking perhaps a Chicano kind of a band.
Anyway, my son and I couldn't find any exact info on Leo turbans or the '53 P Bass.
I'd love to know the history of my 1953. Guess, I'll never know.
Thanks for your help, BassFishingInAmerica
Ha ha ha, my birth date bass would be 8-51 and there are no Fenders. I was born a few months before the first P Bass.
Side note, my sister was born in Jan. 1953.
You and I are from the same time and culture period!
