Show Your Orange Basses!

Mr rkingly, if you EVER decide to sell that, I want to be the first to know! Is there a Dimarzio Will Power in the neck? And are both the P p/ups Will Powers? Very nice!

Moondoggy,
The humbucker was in the bass when I bought it on craigslist.
Previous owner built the pick-up & installed it under the guard.
The P's are DiMarzio. Not sure if they are Will-Power? I just LOVE ME SOME DiMarzio's! I had the bridge P-up installed & the knob on the lower horn is a Certain Bass varitone & David Certain did the Refin, Route & installation.
That will have to be a new thread as I
am extremely happy with the job done by David.

I doubt I'll sell her, grab a MIM & go crazy. A p-bass seems to be one of my favorite styles to Muck-with.

Here's my 2006 MIA Standard Precision. It's got da mojo. I wouldn't mind a 2008 P5 to go along with it. It would have to be in a different color because Sunset Orange has been discontinued by Fender.

Can't decide on what pickguard to get for this baby.

F'n Aaaagghhhh.

rkingly you stole my idea big time.....down to the last screw.
Seriously though how does it sound ?
How are the controls laid out. It's the only thing I couldn't decide on with this config but now that you've gone and done it first, I might as well copy the whole damn thing.

This is so typical. The moment I have a new idea someone goes and ruins it for me. I swear I give up.

allotabass,
This Bass sounds incredible! Before the new work was done she
sounded great & I was pleased. Decided to add p-up & Varitone
& paint. Previous owner stripped original wine color to Natural, while it looked great, I have been wanting an Orange bass for a while.
Controls are starting from lower horn:
1.Certainbass Varitone all pick-ups
2. 3 way mini: (Bucker)up crispy, middle less crisp, down no crisp
3. Bucker Vol
4. 1rst P Vol
5. 3 way mini: up parallel, middle Off, down series (1rst P)
6. Bridge P Vol
7. Master tone
8. Humbucker only jack
9. Everything jack

Wow, that is a little much.......
The guy I bought her from is obviously a Billy Sheehan fan. He even went as far as attempting to scallop the neck. Hence the replacement Fender MIM neck. It's a P-neck with Jazz width @ the nut.
I Love this bass, so many sounds. Build you one & let me know
what you come up with. I love multiple pick-up layouts & this was not an unreasonable project. Inexpensive bass & extra parts,
with a little $$ for paint & labor.

Rkingly's bass was a neat project for sure, and he is a great guy to work with. That orange is actually Cleveland Brown's Orange (to be exact) that Rkingly requested. Luckily, my painter remembered going to this painters' seminar and met a guy who works for the company that paints the NFL's helmets. Pro sports colors are proprietary and a closely guarded secret, but we had our ways.... The tort and orange is particularly handsome.

I can recreate this bass except for the home made pickup at the neck. A DarkStar is the closest thing I've heard like it, but the DiMarzio Model 1 will work cool, too.

Thank you Rkingly!

Peace,
David
