Thanks much! The pickups - They are DiMarzio PAF's that I bought in a sealed box from a fellow in Canada many many years ago, and sat in my parts box until this build. Even my tech couldn't believe I had them when I pulled them out! They truly sound amazing in this bass. All the hardware is genuine Fender '62 reissue, including the click-step ring on the tone knobs in the stack.
I really didn't want to hide the bridge pickup since the extra-yellow covers were aged in real time, so I traded in the J cover and went with a P ashtray instead.
The body is a standard Warmoth J in Alder, with their standard Shell Pink finish. Blocked and bound standard Maple neck with a brass nut. This was a "from scratch" build, always intended to be my Pink bass. I built it in 2007. At that time Pink basses were few and far between.
Pickguard - I started with vintage white pearl and then went to tort at some point. Never really happy with it. Then I found a guy on ebay with these. He used the same laminate Ludwig used on their drums in the '60's. This is the Pink Champagne sparkle. He also had Gold and Silver Champagne. My drummer actually had a set of the Gold in his youth. Anyway, as soon as I saw it I knew I had to have it - I think it suits it very well.
It is hands down one of my favorite basses for playability and tone. Those pickups just sing.
