how do you like the svp pro? i have been eyeing them for a while but have heard mixed reviews. is there a lot of noise/microphonics/hum?
Hope this doesn't hijack the tread too much but it is rig related.
I recently sold my SWR SM-500 to a fellow TB'er. I had only run the amp in mono to a single 4 ohm cab. Never used it in stereo. When he got the amp, he ran it in stereo and found that one channel ran much hotter than the other. The conclusion -- I had been using the wrong speakon cable and may have damaged the amp.
Is there a special type of speakon cable that I would use for running mono? I used the single mono out from the SM-500. (I know GK has a biamp speakon cable - this is a different issue)
Any help here would be appreciated. Not calling anyone a liar. I have just never heard of a special "Mono" or "bridge" speakon cable.

Bridge Mono cables are generally wired +1 +2 for the amp end and +1 -1 for the cabinet end. I know that the SVT-4 comes with a cable for running bridged, but I can't say for sure if the SM-500 did the same.

Just out of interest, what make of rack case is that? i like the idea of having two handles on each side, but most places only do that when its bigger rack units

1 = buttercream fretless w/piezo w/flats (Dad Chromes)
2 = trans-white, finished neck/very light body strung w/flats (nice for fingerstyle)
3 = honeyburst, strung w/sunbeam rounds (keep it tuned down 1/2 step, blues band bass)
4 = black, nickel rounds lo-riders (set-up w/higher action, use it often playing hard w/pick and/or for slap)
5 = StingRay 5 on order, DUAL HUMMER
But the best reason for owning the same bass?
I LOVE STINGRAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay I finally got a camera.So here is my GK 4x12 +2x10 horn, with an Eden, Boogie and SWR on top. My Boogie has a broken power switch and my power amp was un-loaned. So instead of 650 watts, its 5 watts of trembling glory from a single EL84 in my Valve junior. Hey it acatully get very loud!
Finally a rig of doom. I was starting to think this thread needed to be renamed, "Rigs of lightweight and small yet efficient perfection."

where as one GK head puts out 700 watts, and goes along with a 4x10 cab that has a capacity of 800 watts. so number of cabinents doesn't always meen more doom.
