Say hi to Priya (PREE-uh). She's an old girl (8.5 years), a Great Dane, and until the 1st of April, my mom's dog. Mom died that day, and I promised to look after her. So she's part of our pack now, and I'm determined she'll live out her days happy and healthy. I had to rent a cargo van to get her from Arizona to Omaha, but she's worth it - a total sweetheart, and already charming everyone else in the family

Sorry for your loss, but good on you. Priya looks like a real sweetheart.
Losing a mom is worse than losing a pupper, but they're both awful. My primary motivator for my lifestyle is outliving my dogs. I don't know what would happen to them if I go first. My youngest is a 6 year old Chihuahua, so he's hopefully got at least 10 years left. That'd make me 80, so gotta stay fit.
Sorry for your loss, Jon. You are a good soul. I had a friend who had a great dane and they are sweet, clumsy, gentle creatures. She is lucky to have a caring place to live out her days.

Finally got this girl to calm down long enough to get a good picture of her 
Rough week for us last week. We had gotten a new dog, a first for our kids, a little over two months ago. Sweet shelter rescue, took to training well, happy with kids and other dogs.
I was out of town and she broke a leash while training with my son, getting hit by a car before they could get her back in the yard. Kids saw the whole thing.
RIP Cocoa. You were a great dog.
Oh no! How terrible. I have nightmares about that happening to our dog. Sorry you all have to go through this.
