+1 I've tried and enjoyed a number of different scotches, but I keep coming back to Lagavulin 16 as my #1.
Definitely something about the Lagavulin 16, and the 12 too, although it's a bit more money. I'd have to say that if I only had one bottle I could have, it would have to be either Ardbeg 10 or Corryvreckan, though I wouldn't be at all let down if it was the Lagavulin either.
Laphroaig definitely took me a while to get on good terms with, but there are days when I wouldn't want anything else.
just finished off my ardbeg last night, baby woke up at 10:30 so I didn't even get to enjoy it 
Speaking of Ardbeg, if you like petey scotches like Lagavulin then Ardbeg Supernova is a must try.
That's steep. It was surprising to see that many bottles were cheaper here in the US than in the country of origin.

Can get Corryvreckan for around about £60 ($90) here. The Supernova was certainly one of the pricier releases they had (without getting into the thousands).
Not all that surprising really, the taxes you'd have to pay in the US are peanuts compared to what we're hit with here.

I'm starting to really enjoy this Laphroaig quarter cask. It tastes and warms like swallowing a liquid camp fire with a couple overcooked marshmallows. It's something special.
The Quarter Cask is really different from the standard 10 and between the two of them, the best Laphroaig has to offer, or at least for me.
Long Island folks: free Ardbeg tasting (I think "just" the 10) at Bottles & Cases in Huntington on Friday November 1 from 4-7. I'm not going, but just wanted to pass along.
I've only had the 12 yo Dalmore. It's nice, very sweet and very drinkable (dangerously smooth). Not comlplex in any way, but still simple and enjoyable.
Ben Riach do some nice sweeter whiskies, they do some peated too, but I haven't tried any of those.
Really good sale near me tomorrow, where I could either get Lagavulin 16 for $50 or Ardbeg for $35, but not both. Having a taste test now...think I'll go with Lagavulin even though I still have a 1/3 of a bottle left.
I think Ardbeg has a sweetness underneath the smokiness that I like, Lagavulin is a little bit more balanced and smooth over time. This place doesn't have any of the "sweet" ones that I'm seeking, but I'll be okay being stuck with Lagavulin.
