Single Malt Scotch!

Lagavulin 16 tonight. I only have that and Ardbeg right now, which is great...but I want to get a sweeter one sometime, and I don't like Balvenie Doublewood. Currently on the lookout for Aberlour A'bunadh, which I know I like. Any other lower-priced suggestions? Maybe I should get a bourbon for that...

Glenrothes. It's like drinking toffee in whisky form. Bevmo has it at $45 ish.

I tend to zero in on sherried Speysides and have a couple of goodies at home right now....Glendronach 15 Revival and Glenfarclas 12. Got there by way of Macallan 18 and 12, the former kinda expensive, the latter too dangerously drinkable.

Also have some Laphraoig 10...heavily peated so man that's some funky stuff, like a Band-Aid in a bonfire next to the sea, but something about it makes me relive good memories and think deep thoughts. :)

I always have a bottle of the 12 year old stocked at home. I've tried the older vintages and I remember them being awesome. Talkbass is killing my wallet cuz now I wanna go buy a bottle of scotch later.

I like the 12-year Glenfiddich. It's not as sharp and harsh as a lot of scotch I've tried. I had a bottle of Glenlivet Archive 21, and I think the Glenfiddich 12 is better.

Ah, the Nectar of the Gods.....

My personal favorite. :bassist:

I don't know about prices where you are, but the 15 is certainly worth a bit extra (it isn't much more than the 12 here), I certainly prefer the 15 to the 18 too (and yet to try the 21).

had some Oban 18 this past sunday. Dear lord it was delicious. The smell was just really sweet, but the taste was very complicated - sweet, smoky, and all that good stuff but not much sting at the back of the throat. Decided I might buy a bottle for the house. Looked at the price. Decided not to

I just found this lovely thread! Talk about some SAS!

Current Bar: Glenlivet 12, Glenlivet Nadurra, Glenlivet 18, and A Glenfiddich 18

Some of my favorites! Arbeg Uigeadail (for overall best experience), Laphroig 18 (love the signature Laphroig peaty, smokey girth), Glenlivet 18 (my go to for a well balanced and smooth sipper)

I also enjoy single malts in a Rusty Nail or a Bar X Edison.... (yes, I realize some people will have their opinions about single malt scotch in a cocktail; and no, I'm not talking about drowning a single malt in Sprite at a club)

Any others enjoy single malts in a cocktail from time to time? any favorite recipes?

My present lineup consists of: Ardbeg 10 & Corryvreckan, Lagavulin 16, Laphroaig 10, Glenfiddich 15, Crown Royal Reserve, Limited Edition, Cask No. 16 & XR, Hibiki 12, Yamazaki 12, Taketsuru 17 Non-chill filtered and standard, Balvenie DoubleWood, Bowmore Legend, Jim Beam Black, Glenfiddich Special Old Reserve.

I love the Ardbeg, Lagavulin and DoubleWood, but for something really cheap that I also enjoy every time I have it, the Jim Beam Black is fantastic. Usually around $17-$22.
