Single Malt Scotch!

I've been a partially good boy so I got a 20cl bottle of Dalwhinnie 15 - a new one to me. Looking forward to sampling it.
I sipped a Highland Park 18 last night while we were doing one of our Christmases, such a nice scotch.
My current favorite (and it's very easy on the wallet) is Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban...delicious!

I started my drinking life as a bourbon drinker and gradually gravitated to rye and liked it better. Then a bartender screwed up and gave me scotch instead of rye and I haven't looked back.

i think bourbon / rye is delicious, and being american, i like supporting the local variety of whiskey. truth be told i always find the flavor variety in scotch much more interesting - but lets not kid ourselves- bourbon and rye taste great!

I think you'll see from the last few pages that you've got one of the greats there!
I'll have to peruse the thread. It has been a while.
It is REALLY good IMO! Peat and smoke without being hars or overwhelming. Truly the best scotch I've personally ever had.
Lagavulin is stellar. Vermont doesn't sell the Cao ila, but that is an islay that I absolutely love. Can't go wrong with an older laphroig either, if you're into smoke.
I can't deal with that 10 year Laphroig. Man, peat and nothing else. I'd love to try the older stuff sometime though!
Well you're a scotch expert now that you know what you like!
Lagavulin 12 is very good too and if you get a chance, try to check out some Caol Ila 12, Bunnahabhain 12, Bruichladdich Laddie, Ardbeg Corryvreckan or Ardbog, Talisker 18 or Old Pulteney 17.
Careful about trying other versions though, as they can be far different from other expressions in a given line. For example Ardbeg Blasda, Talisker 10 and Old Pulteney 12 will never be on my shopping list.

+1 While I drink almost every other scotch neat, with the cask strength Lagavulin 12, I do prefer it with a splash of water.
