I just went out and bought some Springbank 12 Cask Strength. WIN!!!!! Love that stuff!
Still on a Mitchell's theme (owners/makers of Springbank), I just got a note to tell me my limited first release bottling of their newest whisky, Kilkerran (from their Glengyle Distillery) is about to be mine!
The 5 bottles have been aged in the following casks - bourbon, oloroso sherry, fino sherry, port, madeira and rum. The casks have been maturing in the warehouses at nearby Springbank for the past 10 years.
Now my only problem is which one to open first?![]()

TRUTH!And once again, I am lamenting the fact that you and I do not live closer to each other.![]()
Salute!I just opened a new bottle of Lagavulin 16 as well and this post puts me in the mood for some now.
Anyone liking the smokier scotches should definitely try out the Bruichladdich Laddie 10. Not only flavorful, but very mild too.
For the times you want something with some more kick of course there's always the Ardbeg and Laphroaig lineups. My favorite being the Ardbeg Corryvreckan.
Caol Ila 12 is an absolutely wonderful destination, as are the Bunnahabhain 18 and Highland Park 18!The Laddie 10 is being phased out, Bruichladdich are moving away from age statements (for the most part) it seems.
I like their Port Charlotte too, the claim it's heavily peated, and it does have a lot of peat on the nose, but it's fairly gentle as far as peats go (to taste).
Go to smoky malt is Caol Ila, but I may have mentioned that before![]()
