I want to do that, but I've never done it before.Well, Scotchbrites are cheap.
With my limited use of my recently acquired V7 vintage 5 they are very similar.

Fortunately,both of mine are pretty nice...I have video clips posted on my youtube page and in this thread.
Just get the "no scratch" kind and take it slow. The heavy duty works faster, but I like the finer finish the no scratch leaves, and it just feels safer to go slower.
Depends on how far west you're located. I'm on the east coast and mine took 6 days.
I'm considering selling my new Fender Deluxe Active Jazz 5 and joining the Sire club. I thought I would get used to the width of the neck (width being from top to bottom) but I still find my shortish fingers struggling with it. The slimmer nut of the V7 has my attention; but, does anyone know the string spacing at the bridge?
Also, how does the neck profile compare to the standard jazz profile?

Well I ordered a V7 5 and it should be on it's way by 11/30 and I keep seeing a metal control knob upgrade but didn't see this on Sire's web page.I'm just waiting on a reply from Sire about this and am looking forward to playing this bass.I've heard a lot of great things about the V7 and am buying this as a backup.

A month? That's not a "long" wait, that's a "typical" wait. They were giving some people knobs when they had to wait 7,8 weeks and the like.
The good news is, you can get chrome knobs almost anywhere. I just ordered from a third party vendor, on ebay or amazon I think, when I got the bass. The chrome knobs are SO much nicer than the black plastic ones, especially for a light-hued bass like my natural / maple V-7 5 banger.
