HELP!

Does anyone know if the POTS on the V7 are replaceable? I messed up big time while trying to remove the plastic knobs on the Vol/Tone stacked knob, and pulled out the entire post! I didn't realize that it had a set screw until it was too late. I'm hoping that I can just get a stock POT and replace it without having to replace the entire Pre. I'm a novice when it comes to these things. Can anyone tell me where I can order one quick or do I need to get it from Sire?
Oh no! I would certainly ask Sire, they might just send you one for free, but no, there's nothing magical or special about them, really. You want a concentric 500K log / audio taper on both, I think, I'll check if/when I can find my meter. The only tricky part might be if it's the compact kind that's soldered onto the board? Those can still be found, just have to try a bit harder.

Oh no! I didn't realize that it's soldered on the board. I spoke with Mickie but he said they are out of that part for a few weeks. He said that he will send me the specs so that I may be able to source it.

It's a standard part, just not necessarily a standard music part (guitars and basses usually don't use PCB mount mini-pots). Mouser or some such will certainly have them.

Dude can you help me source this? I can't wait weeks for Sire to send me a replacement part.
Sure as soon as you have the specs, or I find my meter. Does the broken pot have any markings on it saying what it is? I'll open one of mine up again and see if they do. The earlier ones had the volume / tone on a separate pot, the more recent ones with the longer board have the PCB mount version.

And so sorry, that has happened here before.

Remember, everyone - loosen the set screws before trying to pull the knobs off!!!!!

Thanks!

I'm at work so I can't see. Mine is brand new. One of the VV7 5 strings.

Ok, I think the current V7s are right on the board - it might've been easier with an M7, they're laid out a bit differently with more room for a full sized pot (just checked the insides of my M7). I'll pull the control panel on my fretless V7 and have a look.

Invalid Link Removed these look pretty close, I think. They have with or without center detente - I think we want without for main vol / tone.

Were you able to see inside to make sure that this one will fit?
What I really need is close-up pics of yours, it may not be the same as mine - even my newer V7 fretless has the vol tone pot separate, not mounted right on the board. And making sure the shaft length isn't too long, it's always the tricksy little details...

when you say SEPARATE, do you mean 2 totally separate POTS? Mine is a stacked knob with the vol on top. I'll send pics when I get home.

I'd better find my meter too, because they may have used 250Ks on the single coils on the V7. I'll keep digging, we'll figure it out. Real specs from Mickey would be the best though.
