Someone already has, saw it recently, I'll see if I can find it again, somewhere on here the last month or so. My M3 and V7 are both fairly well matched, such that I don't need to switch the amp input setting, though the active is a bit louder on both. I've been mostly hanging out on the active side, have to get to know both. The pickups do sound quite different, I'll say that already - the Js on the V7 seem "deeper voiced" to me than the M3's humbuckers - both great sounds.

So what strings are you guys using (if you've changed strings)?

I'm considering staying with the stock strings it came with, unless I can find a cheaper substitude.

Stock ones are these: Invalid Link Removed

I seem to get along with nickel better than steel..

I like DRs generally, I put hi beam heavies on my M3, but I also have a bunch of other new sets to try.

Yeah, that's the only thing I see that looks like a trimpot - the tiny blue cube with the white dial on the circuit board.

I've just ordered a set of Thomastik JF344 from Thomann for my V7.
Never tried them before, but they seem to have great reviews.
Works out at about £37,including postage.
Given that people say they're good for 10 years they will probably outlive me!
In any case, less than £4/year for strings is a bargain!
I'll let you all know how they are.

It seems Thomann in Germany have sold out of the 5s and there are certain 4s that aren't in stock anymore.

Some great looking basses on this thread.

I played mine at practice and almost had an eargasm. This is the best sounding bass I've owned. I used it in passive with the tone wide open and it really cut through but with a firm presence...it's got a tight bassiness that underpins its tone.

I may be talking nonsense but that's what it sounds like to me

The finishes are equally perfect, I like both, but the M3's flamed maple top is a winner in my "looks book". Sound, hard to decide! I do wish there was a 5 string M3 - maybe some day.

For anyone looking to buy, sad that they're running low, but a good sign for Sire's long term prospects, I would say.
