We get it. You had a bad experience with the Sire bass you bought. A few other folks have too, and, like you, they posted their negative experience about it here. But none of them keep coming back to post about it over, and over, and over again.

Do you go into the Burger King and scream at the other diners there multiple times a day about how much Whoppers stink, because you got a bad Whopper once? Do you send angry letters to the post office every day for a year because your Amazon package was a day late?

Like... what have we done to you that we deserve to be dumped on by you? We're not even the ones who did anything to you, but you are just this endless source of negativity for no good reason. Go direct your irritation at the folks who you beleive wronged you... please.

I don't know if I have newer pickups or not, but I am enjoying this new passive P5R 5-string that was just delivered by the big brown truck.

Congrats! That looks awesome. I've been leaning towards a P5R 4-string for the months now, pretty much since they teased them on release. My GAS goes away every couple of months but then I see pics like yours and it starts up all over again lol. Now, if they could only get in stock at SW instead of being backordered all the time lol. Yeah, I think I still want a 4-string of this.

Yes, initially I too was after a 4, which is currently unobtainable until they get more on the boat.

I was without a 5-string, so a budget 5er it is. Lo and behold, there's a 4-strung lurking in there too.

But I have bought 2 Sires...a P10 and a V3, and I friggin' LOVE both of mine.... so you can shout at the wall all day buddy, but I and many more Sire owners are extremely happy with them, so just cause you got some sketchy pickups ain't gonna change a thing, Bro....sorry.
Congrats on the Fender Jazz! Looks like a nice bass....BUT the pickups and the bridge have been changed out on it, right?

Same here, V3 & P7, no mods, sound glorious to me.. i don't own anything else...

He mentions in the first minute that the pick-ups have been redesigned for the P5R with more bottom end, and makes a comparison with the 2 regular P5 he has already reviewed, that (i think) dated back to before the P5R was introduced... so i still don't know if the newer P5 (post introduction of the P5R) also have the Fat Vintage Revolution smthg smthg PU..

I just ordered a P5R 4-string fretless about a month ago ....
I ordered directly from SIRE - order is now 3-4 months out ....

I have a M7 Fretless 4 in swamp ash on order via SW, things are slow atm so I'll just be happily surprised one day when it shows up.

According to Sire's website, both P5 and P5R now have the "fat vintage" PU, IIRC the P5 original PU lacked the "fat" in the name. Note, I don't any of those so I can't really tell.

That may depend on the distributor and of course, how long instruments are in stock...
According to Thomann, D5/P5 were available since 08/2021 and P5R since 10/2022.
If you are buying new, I'd ask the shop.

It is interesting to see the how wildly the roasting color differs on a bass. Everybody should be able to find the shade they`re looking for.

Sorry to hear, I have no issues at all with the pickups on my V5 and M7.

Hope the Fender works out for you.

I also have had no issues with the pus and electronics on my U5, purchased a few months ago.

Pickups sound as good as any other P or J pus I've used.

I posted about it here already, but I realized I hadn't yet posted a general NBD thread for my new V5R. That has now been fixed here.

I've only had one gig since it arrived, but I plan to use it at another outdoor gig this coming Saturday night, playing at a marina's tiki bar right on the river's edge. Fingers crossed, the forecast for the coming week calls for late day thunderstorms every day. But, it's summer so it's to be expected.

I sent a pickguard tracing to WD Music this past week, so I'm waiting for them to reply with a quote. I'm planning to replace the original black pickguard, which looks quite nice, with a white pearl pickguard that I'm hoping will look even better and blend with the white pearl blocks on the fretboard.

I like my V7 in passive mode so much that I just paid guy to make a custom wiring harness for it. It's going to be 100% passive with a Fender four hole plate. V/T/V/T, .47 cap on the Neck and .22 on the Bridge. I'm really excited. I think @waver nailed it with "...as good as any other...". I was really gassing for a 'Nice' jazz bass.

I watched a lot of comparison videos on the Empire Music(mostly Fender shop) YouTube channel. I decided that I needed to have blocks with binding, and rounded fretboard edges... since my 2023 V7 sounds as good as anything he played, I made the decision to make it permanently passive.
