Sire V7 - are they really THAT good?

To answer the question : yes they are really that good. But you can't compare fender with sandberg , fodera with ritter , Cort with yamahaand so on.Well, as I said somewhere else those basses pricing is not logical at all. They sound and feel better than some basses 3x their price. Better than some...not all.. but if they were US made they would cost probably between 1300 and 1700 dollars because that's where they fit IME. They are really great but they are not Fenders. They are quality, good sounding jazz basses type. Period.
When i tried it I thought " that preamp is really covering all the flaws let's put it off". I removed the batteries...And that thing was still sounding good !!!! That's when I realised I should have paid way more for that bass. On this case pricing is not equal to quality. I saw it the other way arround (very expensive but does not feel/sound that good) but this I don't understand. I guess I have to say thank you to mister Miller and the guys at Sire. I don't know how you did it...but you did that !!! Wonderful.

Yup, I tried a Sire and try as I might I could find few if any flaws. Really nice workmanship, plays and sounds like a much more expensive bass.
I have 5 Sires. Either they really are that good, or I'm nuts. Well, not mutually exclusive, those two.
I re-read this thread...and I thought people don't really realise that they are made in indonesia. That's basically why they are less expensive than MIA fenders. I'm not saying they are better than Fendies but they can definitely compete with them. I'm not easy to satisfy. I played basses from low end to 4000 $. If I tell you Sire are good it's not "for the price" but because they are just good. Otherwise I'd have sold mine for a long time.
It seems this debate will continue until another brand called "Momma" appears and begins production of same quality basses in a cheaper country, say, Myanmar and ships ship-loads of them worldwide. Then they will become the "good for the price" instruments with a coefficient of x4 times the pricier ones. Best thing about it, now-expensive brands will then be forced to move their bulk production to Indonesia or Myanmar, or they will suffer.
While I understand the love for Sire basses, I have 3 friends with them and they've all had problems with their basses.
A pickup going completely dead for no apparent reason in 2 of them and the bridge was installed in the wrong place on the body on another, the bass would not intonate. It had to be removed and reinstalled in the correct spot. They all had issues with warranty replacement and just ended up buying new pickups and the other guy eating the bridge repair cost. 2 of my friends put their Sire's back in their case and are using other basses and the 3rd traded it towards an Ibanez BTB and loves it. Stuff like this is discouraging and deflates the joy of ownership.

As long as we're speaking anecdotally, I have 5 Sires and haven't experienced any problems with any of them - like many happy Sire owners on here. Sucks that your friends have such bad luck.
Yep, shame your friends have had such bad experiences. I've had 5 Sire's now and haven't had a problem with any of them.
How is the neck on the P7 5 string, is it clubby feeling like the Jazz bass? Every Jazz 5 that I played had a really thick profile that I found uncomfortable for my preference.
The neck on the P7 is the same as the V7, therefore if you find the V7 neck "clubby" you will find the P7 neck "clubby."

I cant believe how much the cost of these basses has gone up. Almost double since i got mine. Glad i jumped in when i did.
Still fantastic basses for the money, but i feel they are now higher up in the more congested mid price point. More competition for the same money.

Odd, prices haven't gone up nearly that much in the USA, the price adjustment was a relatively smaller percentage.
I have to admit to being a bit sneaky - my first 2 Sires (brown M3 and V7 fretted) came from Thomann.de rather than Sire USA mostly because the exchange rates were so favorable our way back then - saved me over $100 total over the USA prices.
