But seriously-My main axe is a '69 Precision, a workhorse that's been "relic'd" naturally, many gigs, lotsa road miles.
Sounds phenomenal; plays great. I don't think I'd sell it for $100K...well...maybe!

As far as the Jens Ritter bass discussed here- The last pics posted show it as a real thing of beauty, and a work of art.
Sometimes, things are built/fabricated/made for the sole purpose of being the epitome of what they represent.
You'll find this in automobiles, jewelery, watches, boats, planes...the list goes on.

And why not bass guitars?...And if it's gonna be done, Jens Ritter certainly has the credentials and skills to be the one to do it!

C'mon, appreciate it for what it is- An example of the kind of instrument that can be built with absolutely no limitations.

It definitely is NOT a "player's instrument" any more than
a Million-dollar Bugatti is a daily driver!

People pay a whole lot of money to just "look" at Picassos.... Nobody laughs at them. At this price point this stops being an instrument and just becomes art. Which is ok b/c that is what the buyer is paying for.

The only thing is, this guy COULD play his art if he wanted to.

I just saw this bass in the TB Classifieds. I guess the Sultan wasn't that crazy about it. It went from $98,000 all the way down to $14,999 in six hours. Someone buy this bass!

"The Neck Joint is a very special and mostly totally neglected sound influencing element. It is responsible for the dynamic and speed (Attack) of the bass and also for the string amplitude power consumption (Sustain).

After comparing different constructions (identical wood from the same tree), I developed my ”Multi screw Bold on Neck Joint”. I always use the maximum possible amount of screw per available area.

If you compare this connection physically, you will identify a much faster attack, longer Sustain and a different mid-frequency-range of the instrument.

If you compare this connection acoustically, you will recognize a better dynamic, a faster response and a greater presence within your band.

The reason is a lower absorption of the string amplitude energy, because the absorption area (vibrations-system) is divided into 2 “oscillation-arms” with different lengths, which hardly move with the string frequency."

This bass will be featured in The Robb Report. One the most prestigous [sic] magazines on any news stand.

The Robb Report is essentially a catalog of tastelessly ostentatious toys for unimaginative money burners and filthy rich validation seekers. I saw a recent issue with "10 Ways to Make Your Friends Really Jealous!" emblazoned across the cover, and skimming through the article soon made it obvious that they were dead-serious. How's that for a classy, "prestigious" publication?

The bass is surprisingly understated considering its intended audience, but personally, I'd like it a lot more without all the gold and jewel gingerbread. The latter brings to mind some soon-to-be-bankrupt rapper who runs out and has gold caps with diamonds in the center installed on his front teeth.

Edit: It appears that the entire Ritter "Royal" series a marketing ploy aimed at the more-money-than-sense "Robb" crowd. I know of a dealer who's selling a Jupiter that's basically identical to this one for around $7K, why $19,221.00 price tag?

It's available for purchase. I moved the mouse cursur over "purchase instrument" and asked my daughter if I should - she reached over and tried to get me to click it. Fortunately, I was a little quicker than her.

You have to admire it though. Amazing use of materials..

PRS have been making g**tars like this for years (Dragons anybody) and the same debate as to whether they are playable or not goes on.

However, it's got us all talking about Ritter basses, how great they are and no doubt some have checked out the website. The Ritter name will be in a US publication which lots of people will read, so it's probably a good exercise from a PR standpoint.

There's no doubt Jens Ritter creates some superb basses and this displays his ultra-high level of workmanship.
