1 x 5m guitar lead
1 x short guitar lead (0.5m) - Pedal to DI
1 x 2m guitar lead
1 x GHS fast fret
1 x spare 9V battery
1 x yellow duster (for wiping down the bass after gigs)
1 x pick holder for mic stand
1 x metal tin full of picks
1 x multitool
1 x set of 4 new spare strings
1 x Korg Pitchblack tuner pedal

I meant the bass case... but any will do, I guess.
My bass case holds enough that I've been able to get by without lugging an extra bag or box for cables, cords, etc. And I travel light (no pedals other than the SansAmp). But it does make for a heavy-ass case, especially with the 78 P inside. It's always fun to see guitarists pick that thing up.
Oh, now you tell me after I finished doing inventory on my gig bag. LOL jk.
In my case....
The original purchase receipt from '98.
Truss rod adjuster < I've never needed to use that
Nail clippers!!
Polish cloth
allen wrench
screw driver

It's a big flight case, and I keep everything I can in it (unless I lighten the load for a gig)...

-metronome
-tuner
-2 cables
-power strip
-power adapter for POD
-suction cup/stethoscope amp
-ear plugs
-9v
-strap
-broken tuning machine (need to take that out)
-alan keys
-screw driver
-big book of sheet music and lesson stuff
-a pick in case I can't pluck for some reason

Cool, thread...I'll play. In my green Undercover gig bag I've got:
my jazz bass
my Sansamp BDDI
two 1/4'' cables
one new set of strings
my leatherman tool
a couple fresh 9 volts and AAs
a cheap-o little Marshall tuner from GC
In an old laptop bag i have my Little Mark II, power cord, and custom made speakon cable. Also whatever charts i may need for the gig.

Wow, some of you carry alot.

Here is my list:

(1) Tuner

(1) Wide leather stap

(1) 20' Instrument cable

(2) 9-volt battery

(1) small screwdriver

(1) allen wrench

(1) harmonica (key of C)

(1) picture that my daughter drew years ago and put in my
case one day

The "back up" stuff is in a box (when I used to play out) now its just in a box in the closet.

oh, and (1) wipe down cloth

In the case itself, my main strap, a truss rod wrench, pack of strings, short practice cord, string winder, Pedulla owners guide, some gig photos and two award certificates that I stuffed in there and never pulled back out, a couple old set lists, A friend's CD (I stuff things in there that people will give me at gigs, I guess,) a battery and far and away the most important thing, my Guitool. I love that thing. Has a little flashlight on the end, pliers, allan wrenches and a little phillips head. Best thing ever.
In my gear bag, actually a green carryon suitcase, is
A bag full of batteries,
A bag of fuses
Extra strings,
An extra strap
A cupholder for the mic stand (I drink a lot more water now I got that. Highly recommended)

Small LED flashlight for roadie work
small but complete toolkit, including electrical tools (sometimes I toss in the soldering iron)
20 picks in two sizes
Pick holder for mic stand
2-3 mics, different makes and models
guitar slide & capo
Solid silver pinkie ring
Tuner

Things get worse if I'm bringing my PA (even though its a small one).

I put red electrical tape on everything that's mine, usually on places you wouldn't suspect, to make it easier to track down after a show.

I can just fit all my gear, rig, PA and two basses (all I ever need to put on a show anywhere) into the the back of my midsize SUV, with room for a passenger (preferably female).

Tuner
