So who does NOT have a VT Bass?

I recently picked one up in a trade to A/B it with my BDDI. I was really impressed at first, but once I found 'my tone' (clean tone shaping) I realized I could reproduce it almost exactly with the BDDI and maintain the XLR out. I might give the VTDI a go, but I don't really have a good reason to at the moment.

I had one for a bit and I loved it. Then I fell for the EBS Valvedrive, and then a Rusty Box. While the rusty box one over all of them, the VT brings the sauce. It won't be for everyone, but then if we all sounded the same that would just blow now wouldn't it?

Ill try the new rack version if I ever actually see one. Been really happy with my RBI over the years so I'm not in any rush to change things up, but considering the new ones actually have a friggin blend knob I'm a little more interested in them.

You can get a Class D amp for WAY less than 600, and the VT Bass v2 is 169

Yes, I have one - I admit I don't use it much. It does get great distortion, but I never use distortion. It warms up my TC BG250 combo, but not enough I would use a pedal ( I don't use any others)

Just got a RBI though...

I was trying to make a far comparision and was comping a "good" Class D amp. But to answer the OP - I don't own a VT and probably never will. Quality tube amps give you everything you need.

I'm a quite happy owned of the Sansamp BDDI preset on the SvT settings (boosted bass, lowered treble, full blend, moderate gain) and I really love thatsound (as - to my ear - it makes a nice difference difference between high and lows).

I was wondering is there any reason switching to Sansamp VT for the sound ?

Don't have one now, but considering getting a Deluxe if I decide to start using multiple basses on stage. If not, I prefer to keep things simple for the FoH.

Currently using a Tone Hammer, though, and loving it. Would only use the Deluxe for presets.

I had one and hated it. It lasted one gig and i went back to using my Behringer BDI21, and then BDDI.

What put me off the pedal is with having an active bass it sounds awful in tandem with any eq on the obp. It has to be used in passive mode. Also it gets really hiss in overdrive settings. Its much better just used as a warm tube emulator.

Our pedals have very low self noise. Obviously with any gain producing device it will amplify any noise before it. If the hiss goes away when you turn down your bass that means the pedal is merely amplifying the hiss of your bass.

When you use an active bass you are running two preamps in series. If the bass has active EQ it will usually produce more noise than a passive system.
