Songs requested with wrong title

A friend of mine told me that he was asked for “Ivan the Tiger” by Survivor, at a gig (The B side to “Nelly the Elephant” I pressume).
He managed to keep a streight face. I dont think I could have.

I remember being asked for “white rhino” by the Pistols (White Riot, by the Clash, actually) a double fail. There have been others, but my memory is pretty usless these days. Any body got any more?

So many,

Q: Do you know "Nero"?
A: Don't think so, how does it go?
"Billy don't be a Nero!" (Billy, don't be a HERO).

I actually worked with a Keytard who INSISTED "Get back" by the Beatles was called "Jo-Jo"
There was a drummer who called "I saw her standing there" - "Just 17"!!

Or the classic "first line" requests:

Look at me (Misty)
Memories (The way we were)

I'm sure there's others out there who can contribute...

Lotta younger kids at the bar I usually play. Once was requested to play "Sweet Home Alabama" so we played the Skynrd song. He said that was pretty cool but the lyrics were all wrong however we got the guitar riff right.

Turns out he wanted "All Summer Long" by Kid Rock

Wish we would've played "Werewolves of London" instead now. Woulda really blown his mind.

The other day my friend and I were texting song ideas back and forth. He suggested we play Little Pink Houses by J.C.M. I said that I had never heard of it and would take a listen. Then when I looked it up...OF COURSE I had heard that song!....I just assumed it was called "America" or "Aint That America" or something like that. Felt pretty dumb...

"There's a Bathroom on the Right" ("There's a Bad Moon On The Rise")

oh and one I do, although now I know it correctly, whenever I hear it I still hear: "Just like the one-winged dove..." Stevie Nick's "Edge Of Seventeen" (Just like the white-winged dove, sings a song...)

I recall a bandleader I worked with (Pontins, Brean Sands) for a while once called "Trilogy"

My immediate thought was - hmm, don't think I could busk that 20 minute epic by Emerson, Lake and Palmer - so I asked him for clarification:

He meant "American Trilogy" - a 10 minute Epic by Elvis that I could busk!!.

Well it was a C&W week so I should really have guessed :-)

Lots of women ask if we play that song "The Electric Slide". The song is called "The Electric Boogie" and, thankfully, we do not play it. The line dance that was made up for the song is called The Electric Slide Dance.

Nah, she got the lyric right for the way we do it. Each time through the chorus, our singer picks someone, either one of us in the band, or a friend in the crowd. Then, instead of singing "I've got my ass wide" she sings "John is an asswipe", or whoever she picked out.

The crowd really gets into it, trying to determine who she'll single out.
