Bernie Taupin used to inject a lot of English place names into Elton John songs. Fascinating stuff.

I live in California now, but hearing those songs always brings back the pictures in my mind.

Squeeze's "Up the Junction" is another one (Clapham being in the same area).

As a former Albanian (having done four years of hard labor at a certain undergraduate institution in your general 'hood), I hereby give you permission to expand your geographic constraints. Because other posters have already noted Steely Dan's claim on the Hudson Valley region, here's an alternative:

"Well I hear you went up to Saratoga
And your horse naturally won
Then you flew your Learjet up to Nova Scotia
To see the total eclipse of the sun"

Oh well...as long as I have your permission....I can't imagine anyone wanting to write a song about Schenectady either :)
