Cool, I'll try this out when I get home tonight. Would it be possible to get a detailed explanation? I'm still new to synth programs so I have the basics down.
I just added the "Band Pass" preset to my C4 and it was exactly what I was looking for. I may just need to adjust/normalize the volume, but running it in stereo with a little bit of preamp girt on both amps sounded incredible, the exact sound I had in my head and hope that I can shoehorn into my band's next recording session.
I have downloaded about 100 presets from the Neuro community..I have only dabbled a tiny amount in creating some sounds of my own..Does anyone think there are any more different sounds to get out of the C4 at this point or is basically all that's on offer in the community presets is what you will get, give or take a little variation?

Hey all, I have a C4 and a dmc.micro that I have had for a while but never really used. Now I want to.
So, I ordered a usb cable to go from computer to C4. But I no longer have the cable and adaptor that connects an iPhone to input 2 on the C4. Can I order that stuff from Amazon (for the fast shipping) or is there another place that shops fast?

It depends what you want to spend your time on. If you want to spend your free time making music with the existing vast array of cloud based presets or spend your free time making a new preset to fit with a specific piece of music you are currently working on. Neither are exclusive of each other and both are great. I find that most Neuro C4 presets require some editing for my basses / effects chain / expression options / midi implementation. But usually this is relatively quick.
I'm not making music..I just play for fun and noodle..as I said I have explored all the cloud presets..I find most are similar or variations of the same sound..there are only a handful to my ears anyway that are distinct..That's why I was asking about distinct different sounds..I haven't really explored/experimented with the editor as yet bar a few patches I made..I will delve into it at some stage I'd imagine..
You ask an interesting question. Simple answer is no way in heaven or Hades have we begun to expose the potential of the C4. There are so many choices possible and as bass players most of us are ill prepared to really delve into the electronic frontier music possibilities. Were we to put aside all our other toys and tools and dedicate our activities strictly and systematically to the C4's possibilities then perhaps in a few years perhaps a decade then perhaps.

And just when you near the end of the C4 journey, you can launch into the Ultrawave. That's another ten years!!
I know most folks find the best success at running the C4 early in the chain if not first. How are you guys working with compressors? Compressor > C4 or C4 > Compressor?
It kind of depends on what you are using your compressor for. If it's as a limiter / to smooth out your playing and aid tracking...then certainly before the C4. However, clean staccato playing with no string vibration helps a lot more than a compressor ever could. For some of us, a compressor is to punch / tighten up the post C4 / Octaver's attack. So for me it's post C4 and dialled in for that particular patch. If you get a Boss ES-5/8, you can put them in different loops and swap the loop orders per patch, which is a unique and particularly useful feature.
I don't run a compressor at all, but I would think compressor after C4 would be better if you want to get maximum flexibility from the C4 envelope filter effects.
I've personally tried pairing my compressor with C4 every which way in an attempt to assist with the tracking and saw zero results. It's all in the hands and having the right settings for different basses/strings. This doesn't answer the pre vs post placement question, but my recommendation is to optimize that for the desired sound.
The reason for that is that most of us have approached the C4 with the need for synth bass sounds and recreating or replacing other pedals further limiting it's potential in our bands or recordings. Placing those limitations with it rather than simply exploring the limitless possibilities that the brilliant designers of the C4 Synth Bob, Roger and Jessie probably envisioned when they set out to put a 4 voice Eurorack synthesizer in a pedal that we can trigger with an audio input without the need for a MIDI signal.
For example keyboard players are still exploring 50+ year old synthesizers that are seriously limited in capabilities in comparison and finding new sounds and possibilities and spending huge amounts of $ to buy or lease vintage machines or pale reproductions.
Luckily I have had time to explore the possibilities of the C4 and have a little bit of experience in Electronic Music and am working on recordings I hope to soon share using the C4 as the prime sound source. I hope others are doing the same.
I have 4 or 5 sounds that's my main band is crazy about I feel like a haven't even scratched the surface on this pedals limitation. And it's already saved me from buying and octave pedal, an autowah and a flanger.
And I am by no means saying it is a bad thing I dig using it as a filter, octaver and more* but we are so far from using the vast potential of the C4 and now the Ultrawave it should boggle our collective minds or serve as inspiration to be creative.
*Lately I have been pairing the Bass Ultravave with the C$ Filter section for some viciously wicked sounds that make me wish for my Big Ass Bass Rig Daze and some Pfunky drumming
And don't forget it's got two channels! Tons of crazy possibility there.
Oh yeah, I have a clean and dirty head with my main rig, so I use the C4 in stereo. For filter-y sounds (flange, phase, autowah) they just run back to their respective head and for synth sounds.....STEREO!
