I ran into an issue where I had "Reduce Loud Sounds" turned on for my iPhone. It wouldn't play loud enough for the C4 to pick it up. It may be called something else on a different iOS version (or maybe on Android).
Stuff like this is why we added the USB option for mobile support. If your C4 is on version 1.20 or higher it will work with a USB cable connected to its mini USB port. There is no calibration necessary for the USB connection, just a passive adaptor (USB-USBC) needed. The USB connection is also two-way, meaning the app can read back settings from the C4, something the TRS connection isn't capable of.
We will do an update to the C4 someday, but there is nothing coming anytime soon.
Wait what? Do you mean you calibrate, then set each patch's input gain to that calibration point? Or literally re-do calibration for each patch? Trying to wrap my head around why the latter would be case, does the pitch detector sensitivity change based on voice selected?
Input gain is saved per patch, so any preset you get might need to be adjusted to your bass.
They just mean that input gain is like every other knob / parameter in that it will need to be set per preset to your liking like any control onboard or off board. Reason for this is a.) so you're not stuck with one setting and can't use different instruments for different presets, and b.) note that there are 12 different envelopes to choose from and two discrete envelope processors, each of the 12 envelopes will probably react differently to your input.
Honestly a c4 in the same chassis as the collider would be sick. Wouldn’t have to redo the entire pedal from the ground up. Just give us top jacks and a second foot switch to cycle through presets.
Not so simple unfortunately. The large format pedals use dsp that is built for working with delays and reverbs, and has much different specs than what’s in the small format pedals. In other words. Yes, we would need to start from scratch. It wouldn’t be as easy as porting the small format dsp code to the large format dsp code. Not cheap, not easy.
The C4 isn't particularly suitable for the larger chassis. The larger chassis is great for modeller type of effects like the Nemesis. The big central 15 way encoder knob controls the different model engines, not the patch selection. So a pedal like a C4 isn't well suited to that UI because it doesn't have any modelled engines. To control each of it's 4 oscillators and other deeper functions, it would need a completely different chassis.
It needs a USB power feed and uses 2.5mm TRS Midi (Midi Type B adapter, which are the more expensive and rare type). It's not so good and controlling things that only a few parameters (like shape on the modulators), but for the usual large range controls it works really well. The EC-4 is a better device with it's LED screen, but way less knobs.
