source audio c4

What are my options for connecting a dmc.micro.pro to the SA neuro hub? I
read the manuals and I am still confused. Would like to keep the usb open if possible. Any help would be great! Anything at all…. Thanks everyone!
Rick
Just hook it up via 5 pin midi, set the driver to hub, and should be good to go.

So question for anyone who’s running two signals to front of house with the C4.

I’m trying to figure out placement for myself.

should I put it in the clean loop(source audio atlas -> C4 -> OE super vintage) or the dirty loop (C4 -> MBD-2 -> ADAM). The clean loop will feed into the Dirty loop, so if it’s in the dirty loop, the Super Vintage will come before the C4. Will the C4 act weird tracking wise with this? Should I change up my loops?

any help is greatly appreciated.

I don't have separate clean and dirty channels, but I do run my C4 early in the chain. I use a fairfield accountant as a dirty boost up front. I don't think you'd have any issues with tracking, but it will alter the response of the filters. I like the accountant for that purpose, getting the filters to open deeper/faster (it is also pretty nice for pushing drives and preamps).

So would you recommend putting it before the Super Vintage?

Here's an older iteration:

Accountant > SVD > 2020s > C4 > then dirt and pre's. Post dirt, I had a true bypass loop, plugged into i/o2 of the C4. This allowed me to put dirt before the C4, for phasers and filters, when appropriate.

Latest iteration. Dropped the loop (don't need it for the current project).
Accountant > FI > C4 > SVD > Jive > MBD2 > Omnicomp > DPC5 (with the three preamps in loops) > RFE.

TL;DR: Yep,I'd put the C4 before the OE;)

That’s what I was looking for. Thanks!

That's interesting. I've never tried running dirt into the C4 but sometimes add dirt after the C4. Why does dirt into the C4 work for phasers? Using the C4 as a filter for dirt makes sense and I may try a loop for that but guess I'm missing what kind of sound you get with dirt into a phaser. Time to experiment more and try the C4 second input/output!

Dirt adds harmonic content and texture and phasers just love that as do most modulation pedals. It really pays to try different signal paths or to split up your pedal groupings.

FWIW Changing the signal path is one of the things that makes pedalboards and modular synths so exciting.

But the C4 already has dirt options internally to pair up with phaser?
Are there much different dimensions to explore with a seperate distortion source?

Im enjoying some C4 into the UW atm (relative newbie to SA).

You are correct adding the dirt section to the LFO/Phaser is a great way to add sonic excitement, I'm partial to the octave fuzz variants on bass.

I've often found phaser > dirt tends to get a little weird (not that there's anything wrong with that: ). The peaky-ness of the phaser affects a sensitive dirt in unpleasant ways; as the filter sweeps, you get more or less distortion. T'other way round, you're sending a dirty compressed signal into the phaser, so the distortion is more consistent, and the phasing chewy-er.
I like and use the drives in the C4 a lot, but, an MBD2 they are not.

Order is a perpetual experiment. Hoping Morningstar releases the next batch of ML10x's soon. :woot:

One players weird is another players....

Are there references anywhere for the 'character' of the sounds produced/effect of the different filters?

I get the meanings of low / high pass in the titles, but triple peak, notch, parallel etc ?? I can't associate to anything....
Yes, I trial/test but still not clear of what each are doing to the soundwave

Again, its trial/test with the less familiar LFO waves. Any guides on which produce certain sounds eg 'pluck' will have short attack, slow release, yes?

Also, the ASDR are 'set' in each of the envelop options, yes? There's no further control of those parameters, once a selection eg ADSR 4 is chosen?

Maybe I need separate further education on synthesis generally. I read but forget next day?! Any suggestions please?

Thanks guys !! always learning :D
