source audio c4

I use an MC6 Pro (was using an MC6) with the hub, C4 and Bass UW as well as many other midi controlled pedals.
I have had my share of midi issues.
My latest ended up being a bad TRS cable for an aux switch that I use to bank up and down and page switch on the MC6 P.
That bad cable played all kinds of havoc on my midi set up.
Things I have found useful when using the S/A hub. Put the hub last in the midi chain , This had the greatest impact on many of my issues. I'm not sure why it matters, I just know that it solved some issues I had a long time ago. I have since moved to a midi splitter as opposed to daisy chaining my midi cables.
I haven't read the whole post so some of this may have been covered.
Do you have midi cables running out of the MC6 and back into itself? If so, make sure Midi thru is off.
Also, for reasons unknown to me the order / construction of my midi messages on the MC6 mattered. What order I put things in while building presets.
It could be an unknown bug in the Morningstar firmware. Is it a new final firmware or a Beta.
Maybe check out the Morningstar forum. James is very helpful and very quick to respond.
Midi can be finicky and drive you crazy but when you get it working to your needs it's great.
Matt

Hey Thanks! v helpful, will check

So a daft question.....how exactly can I place Hub last in MIDI chain?

I have C4 >
+ UW > (using trrs to trrs cable) Neuro Hub > (5 pin midi cable) MC6pro

I understood that the Hub was the 'interface' as such??

I updated MC6 firmware recently to latest version v3_12_3 (although Im still getting a reminder to update?? (How can I check which firmware is actually installed?)

I will try different ordering of cc messages within MC6 presets

Its not like its glitching that often. TBH, Im still testing ways to navigate around combinations presets to be able to trial various C4 with UW. When I have a set list, I will probably have a simple set of songs (with C4+UW combos) in a bank and step through them.

Thanks again for assitance.

If the Hub is your only MIDI device, it will be the last in your chain already.

So neuro app?
Thinking more just a display that tells me what each pedal is doing. And possibly the ability to link me to the relevant pedal settings page in Neuro.

I have mvave chocolate switchers but they don't have a useful screen. I'll eventually upgrade to something better but that project above got me thinking that I could use a phone to show me what preset I'm on with each pedal

thats the page i'm on, in a slightly different book. :) there's already a phone-based display on my pedalboard for what's going on in Ableton/MAX land via touchOSC, would be extra RAD to collect the preset names and knob positions from my Source stuff for use within that system.

You can also set the long press time as well as switch sensitivity and midi send delay under General Configurations on the MC6 editor.
Is it possible that your controller settings were reset when you did the firmware update?
I recently updated my MC6 Pro and had to recalibrate my expression pedal and change a couple settings after the update.
Feel free to PM me if you would like, I would be interested in seeing your controller and preset setting to see if I can recreate the issue.

Cheers Matt, appreciate it.

Yes, I have long press added, for different function.
I did reset exp pedal before. I'll try some checking with midi send delay....

Thanks Bill

How much work do you think it would take to use something like this to turn an old phone into a display for two source audio pedals?

That phone would require USB Host (OTG) functionality so it can't be too old. How much work depends upon the person assigned to the task and the complexity of the final application. That being said, a proof of concept from a competent developer might not take but a day or two. However, an application that is something one would want to use, could take the best part of a month.

For my own personal use, I'm using a capacitive 960x540 IPS display (from a phone) for detailing complete pedal status and then adjusting 'dials' (everything..) on the fly. At somepoint I'll make this opensource on GitHub with BoM. Right now, the cost to build is around £55.
