source audio c4

Morning pal.

Yes not touched the adjustments in the app, just purely on the pedal. It’s firing up red when playing how I would as soon as it’s turned. Pedals on hear it etc but yeah it’s immediately red which is bizzare as it’s not been going red at all since I got it.

It’s on the default mode, I’ve tried in preset mode too and neither has any changes to it. It’s bizzare. I’ve watched YouTube videos, read the manual backwards and upside down and support on here.

I’ve been playing for years and have used multiple pedals / kempers etc over the years and never had any issues, can understand instructions, etc but this just doesn’t want to play. Shame really as I had high hopes. Thanks for all your input and help mate. It’s massively appreciated. Happy new year
Have you sent a note to [email protected]? This should be easily solved.

For context. We were working recently with a full-time major touring guitar tech with ten years of midi experience who could not get Artifakt to respond to anything after trying everything. He had one tiny oversight that was solved in ten seconds. This may not be as simple, but I hope so!!

Hi mate

I’ve tried to do a report via their website but it just fails every time. I didn’t have an email previously so I will send one now. Appreciate that. Thank you.

FWIW there are several TB members that are Source Audio that are here daily or more often always ready to help. Others like @Quatschmacher are very knowledgeable when it comes to synth and midi, he writes a lot of user manuals.

@Quatschmacher has been a great help along with everyone so far on this thread. I’ve got a few more days before I can post the pedal back, so I’ll keep tweaking and trying to get it work, otherwise it’ll have to go back as I can’t afford to keep a pedal I can’t use. Thank you

So, I am a bit rusty on the C4, but the input gain is important for a variety of reasons:
1) Getting the right level for triggering envelopes and pitch detection.
2) Avoiding clipping on hot instruments. This is especially important with active basses, for example.

The C4 is one of our highest volume products even years after release. It's a huge success and works well for thousands of bass players. One way or the other we should be able to get you sorted out. The guys who respond to support emails are better at it than I am at this point!

So spent the day with the pedal, tweaking, different places in the chain etc.

There’s no red light today, to which there was yesterday but some presets I’m now getting absolutely no sound from it.

Example of ‘envelope’ response. Playing an open A string gets absolutely nothing but an open D opens and then goes dead. Something is definitely wrong with this pedal due to the random changes and different issues im experiencing.

It’s definitely going back which is such a shame as I was really looking forward to this and was going to be a crucial key in my board and sound.

Before doing so, power it up while holding the footswitch and then reflash the current firmware.

Yes, try what @Quatschmacher suggests. A simple factory reset might clear this all up.

Tried this and still the same results. I’ve had no other option but to send the pedal back as running out of time to do so to get a refund.

If I could afford to lose £260 and give it more time I would, but I can’t. Real shame that it’s gone back. Maybe another day I’ll have to purchase another one and try again. Thanks for your help and input

I just dug back through my Neuro Hub scenes and cleaned everything up and all is working as I'd like it to. But now any time I turn the C4 on, the main LED (not the smaller control LED) slowly flashes as if something has changed in the preset and needs to be saved. It does this as soon as I load a scene without touching any controls. Any idea what could be causing this? I've disconnected all USBs and power cycled the board.

That’s what happens if it’s in “preset” knob mode and a knob is moved. Could be in preset mode and have a jumpy potentiometer. Also, make sure you’re on the latest firmware as I seen to recall there was some kind of LED issue on an earlier firmware version.

All pedals, Hub, & controller have up-to-date firmware. At first glance I figured I had just bumped a knob, but every scene loaded immediately starts blinking. Power cycle the board? Immediately blinks.

As far as I can tell, it's not causing any kind of issues. Just a minor annoyance and a little distracting so my type-A brain wants to get to the bottom of it...

Check if the pedal is in “preset” mode in the settings menu. If it is, set it to “default” mode instead and see if the problem persists.

I’d rotate all the pots back and forth a few times in case there’s a bit of dust or something causing it to jump between values.

My pedals are in preset mode (C4 & Atlas). I tried changing the C4 to default and the light stopped flashing. However, I doublechecked the manual and default mode does not allow me to re-save presets if I need to tweak on the gig so I'm not sure I can work with that. I've turned all knobs through their full rotation several times as well as the toggle and alt button just to make sure I'm not missing something similar. Still blinks slowly as soon as a new scene is called up from the Hub.

However, if I either use the toggle or scroll C4 presets individually (long press the right button on my DMC.micro PRO to access individual device presets), the light is steady. For some reason, only presets/scenes called up from the Hub cause the blinking. And only the C4 blinks, not the Atlas. 🤔

That's how my C4 behaves with the hub too. I think it's because Hub scenes are not the same as C4 internal presets. When you load a scene it changes all of the parameters without changing preset. I think it's like that for every pedal except Ultrawave. Hub scenes are like a second set of presets that apply to the whole board.

Actually I don’t think there’s anything wrong at all then, it’s just a quirk:

When you are in “preset” mode and you recall an internal preset on the pedal, it loads the contents of an internal slot and the LED doesn’t blink, thus indicating the parameters are at the values stored in the preset.

However, when you load a Hub preset, the data comes from the Hub. All it does is change the values of all the parameters on the pedal (it does not switch the pedal to a new internal preset slot) so as far a the pedal is concerned, the values of the internal preset have been adjusted, hence the flashing light. Perhaps @rsmith601 could get a colleague to tweak the firmware so that if the changes come from a Hub preset the light doesn’t flash, but I’m not sure if the pedal would be able to be made such that it recognises such a distinction.

If that's the case, it might be easier for me to just use the controller to load presets across devices rather than using Hub scenes since I'm only loading copies of those presets with the scenes anyway.

Confirmed. Since I just want to use the presets I already have (rather than copying them to scenes on the Hub and essentially managing multiple libraries/copies) and want to be able to edit and save the presets on the gig, setting "scenes" on the controller is a much better option for me. At this point, the Hub is essentially just a midi box. Wish I could get more use out of it, but this setup seems to do exactly what I want/need. Thanks again for the troubleshooting help!
