source audio c4

But if you have a patch with literally nothing going on, doesn't that mean you can't be using your C4 as a synth at the same time as the other effects in parallel? (Which is the whole point of a parallel loop for me). Or am I missing something obvious?
If someone sends us a diagram of what they mean by a "parallel" loop, then we will respond we think it can be done. Panning and voices and input/output selections make for LOTS of routing options. I made the call a while back that we would leave routings to the users on the C4. The only one we offer is the one you cannot do by yourself (the pre-effect loop).

I’ve just managed to make a parallel loop. Note that the contents of the loop aren’t active when the C4 is bypassed though.

Set the routing option to “dual input 1&2”

Master output balance at noon.

Hard pan Voice 1 to processor 1. Set destination to filter only.

Hard pan Voice 2 to processor 2. Set destination to “direct output”.

Hard pan Voice 3 to processor 1. Set destination to “direct output”

Set Mix 1 destination to “output 1 only”.

Set Mix 2 destination to “output 2 only”.

Set up a synth sound on voice 1, e.g. “Saw 1” and set up envelope and filter to your liking.

Plug your instrument into input 1.

Plug output 1 into your amp.

Plug output 2 into your external effect in.

Plug your external effect out into C4 input 2.

You should now have a synth sound and parallel to that, you have a clean signal routed through your external effect.

If your external effect doesn’t have a dry signal control then route Mix 2 to both outputs.

Beware, trying to blend in your dry signal from the C4’s Mix control will result in horrendous feedback! Only do it by routing mix 2 to both outputs.

I’ll post the patch to the cloud now.

I assume he means that what goes in the C4's second input, that signal gets combined with the C4's audio signal upon output. That's normally what would happen.

@rsmith601 the ampersand sign doesn’t seem to work properly. In the patch I just posted (which I did via my PC) I wrote “voice 1&4” and it’s been printed as “voice 14”! I tried editing it via the neuro app but it still shows incorrectly on the desktop app cloud feed.

Yup - pretty much.

1. Loop pedal gets the same INput signal as the C4
2. C4 and Loop pedal do not effect each other's signal i.e. they run "in parallel"
3. The OUTput is a blend of the Return from the Loop pedal and the C4's own output
4. The Loop pedal can be on and accessed even when the C4 is bypassed.

See hand scrawled diag attached.

@Quatschmacher

Good stuff! But "contents of the loop aren’t active when the C4 is bypassed though" => not able to deliver what a standard parallel loop can easily do e.g. with a Boss LS2, or the Boss ES5/8 I think someone mentioned above.

If you or SA can solve this (i.e. my point 4 above) then the C4 can deliver a 'fully accessible' parallel loop.

But, hey, feels like we are making progress which is always a good thing!

Again, you'd have to have a patch programmed that passes the loop signal and has nothing else since it's literally in parallel with nothing at that point. The C4 would be activated, but wouldn't be doing anything to the sound. It's the intialize bass patch but with the setup that Q. listed previously.

It's going into our system as an Ampersand...still not showing up huh? I replaced it with a plus "+" sign for now. :)

Is the purpose of securing that always-on parallel loop essentially getting the most use out of the pedal's dual I/O since, as bassists, we're mostly mono signal enthusiasts? Or pure intellectual curiosity? I support both, mind you.

The thing is, mine would go in a Klein Bottle's loop channel, and it's already a parallel mixer... so I'll brainstorm on what I could make a parallel sub-loop do for me :cigar:

Looks like I’ll be getting a DMC micro. My thought with the Soleman was that I could have my four favorite presets on the switches instead of having to scroll up and down. Sounds like it might be more complicated than I thought though.
I'm looking for a controller with this functionality too.

Anybody have any suggestions?

I'm assuming you both are looking for a single pedal that can control the C4 on it's own, with no other pieces to the puzzle? Other than the DMC Micro, I'm not aware of any. You'll need either a Neuro Hub or some type of USB Host, along with a MIDI controller in order to have the ability to recall whatever preset you want. I had a Hub already, so that's the route I went. They can be found used for a relatively decent price.
