At the risk of repeating info already buried in this thread somewhere... I have a C4 coming as well as a Meris Enzo (and potentially more Meris pedals) on my board currently. What DMC or other controllers will currently work for both? (The Meris stuff requires 1/4” Midi compatibility) I know the qConnect is good for the Enzo, is this controller workable with the C4 yet?

Now I was wondering is there a “practical” solution to use a laptop to set the preset in a live environment? I have an old lightweight laptop and some midi controller and if I could avoid to invest more that would be great.

Like, i have this mini akai keyboard controller, can i re-use this somehow?

I tried using the C4 at our last gig and did not spend enough time preparing the preset with proper volume, eventually did not use it

If your laptop will run Neuro desktop then certainly you can use it live. I do not know if it is possible to control parameters via Akai midi controller.

I am hoping maybe someone can help hand hold me a bit through my first experience setting up some MIDI with the C4 Pedal. I have read through all the pages of this thread but I am still a little confused.

Currently My rig is looking like this :
HX Stomp - C4 - Morningstar MC6.

I am able to send changes via the Morningstar quite easily to the HX. Seems pretty straightforward.

However I am having trouble wrapping my head around how to bring the C4 into the chain.
If I wanted to add the C4 in to the chain how do i go about this?
To scroll through presets am I required to get the Neuro Hub? Or am I able to get some adaptors to get the Mini USB to convert to 5pin MIDI and just plug it in to the "Midi out/thru" on the helix?

Question. Will the MC6 send midi from both the USB MIDI and the 5 pin at the same time? If the USB MIDI will function along with the 5pin you should be able to control both units at the same time with the USB into the C4 and the 5 pin into the HX. If not, you'll want a host or hub to do 5-pin to the C4.

I assume you've picked different MIDI channels for the HX and the C4. If not, you'll need to. If you're doing all 5 pin and you're running them MC6->HX->C4, there's probably a setting so that the HX passes signal (through) to the next pedal, but if you can do USB/MIDI to C4 and then 5pin to the HX easy enough.

There are very few pre-programmed CC functions on the C4 The PC (program change) will make sense (patch number equals the PC). But if you have a hub you need to only use CC for now. You can setup what you want in the C4 Midi mapping but if you're literally just doing patch changes you can use the few C4 CC codes that are pre-programmed.

Are you using the HX as a controller as well as for what it does (I honestly don't know either of these units that well, I know the HX models and does effects, is it a controller too?) If the USB MIDI will function along with the 5pin you should be able to control both units at the same time with the USB into the C4 and the 5 pin into the HX. We have recently been told by a couple people now that the HX series can host midi usb. We haven’t tried it yet ourselves but it would be cheap for you to attempt, you would need a usb mini B cable for the c4 and whatever usb connector the helix has (I believe it’s a full sized B connection but not positive). From there your helix will at least be able to send midi pc messages to change presets, but I’m not familiar with helix so I can’t tell you whether or not it will send midi thru data over the usb connection to allow the morning star to communicate with the c4. If you go from the morning star, you will need some sort of usb host adapter (disaster area micro ghost works, the Kenton usb midi host looks like it would work too, but we have not tested it to be sure). The morning star, to my knowledge, is not capable of hosting usb midi devices, so it won’t work to connect it straight to the c4 from its usb jack.

The hub would be great if you're planning on using other SA pedals that you'd like to control at the same time, as of right now they're not fully MIDI functional. The other option is the host that we've most talked about here, the Disaster Audio Micro Ghost. It's a few bucks cheaper, unless you're like me & do a custom color everytime I order from 'em and you could use 5-pin into it then a USB out to the C4.

Parallel loops - does the C4 provide for this?

Guys - it's not clear to me from from the C4 manual whether the C4 provides for parallel looping with other pedals?

I have the AS and it seems to me that the AS manual is pretty clear on this - it can do a series loop but not a parallel loop. The two inputs / outputs do allow for stereo in / out and can also act as a splitter for a mono input. But the loop function on the AS (from the manual) is a much less useful series loop and when the AS is bypassed, the external effect will be out of the circuit and inaccessible.

Just wondering whether the C4 is the same as the AS or provides for additional parallel looping?

The AS has internal mixing and switching options that we hide from you and present them as a high level list of routing options. It makes sence in a distortion box. In the C4 you get access to all the input and output routings and when used with the voices, you can create a huge list of routing options for yourself. I would suggest studying the Desktop Editor. It's very flexible and powerful.
