Right now mine resides after my compressor/limiters but before my bypass-switcher stage. Thinking of moving it after the switcher though so I can use things like my Fuzz before it.

I don't use a compressor at all. The envelope filter I don't use at the same time as the C4. I like the BEF in front of the BOD and I like using the BOD in front of the C4 so that is how I ended up with this order. It could change down the road. The BOD into the C4 with certain patches is awful but with certain patches it's magical.

I'm only using two presets on m C4 in my cover band. The one I use on 24K Magic is an octave down. Using my envelope filter after that is delicious. Think octaver-filter combo. The other preset I use on Get Lucky, without a filter.

How effective is this pedal with modulation stuff that might otherwise be handled by an analog pedal? For example, a chorus or detune effect on otherwise dry bass signal, or pitch LFO (tremolo).

I ask because if I go for one of these, then until I get more real estate, at least one other pedal's gotta go, and my lovely IE Polytope chorus isn't getting much dedicated use at the moment. It does some sweet wavy vibes that I'll miss if I can't replicate them, just as a creative tool.

The only modulation-type pedal I have is a phaser and I don't see it being replaced by my C4. If fact, on some C4 presets I use them both together. I think a chorus would compliment the C4 as well. However, I took my octaver off. The C4 does that well. There are also a lot of good envelope filter presets in the community library. Do you have either of those on your board?

Matter of fact, I've got a Pitch Fork, which is fun but moreso a studio tool for anything other than octaves, and a Xerograph Deluxe. The latter I mostly use for manual filter sweeps (but not always), and I see there's a port for exp pedal connection, so hey.

Sounds like I've got some planning to do to see if I can simplify things a bit. I just might be able to!

My Polytope isn't going anywhere. Though the C4 is replacing 2 envelope filters, one volume swell filter and a few other bits and pieces. I don't have a phaser on my board, but feel like had I had one, the C4 might have supplanted that too.

In the end, it looks like the C4 will be removing 4 pedals from my setup: 2 envelopes, my crossover pedal (used w/envelope and fuzz), and my volume swell pedal. I find the distortion/fuzz component of the C4 to be useable in the context of what you're feeding the filters and envelopes but not very compelling by themselves, and no where near what I get from my Frazz, so that'll stay. I may end up putting that in the 'loop' of the C4 to feed it or use by itself triggered by my MIDI controllers.

My DMC Micro came yesterday. Followed the instructions, updated the firmware, plugged the two together. Everything works.
Simple, easy, functional.

@BurningSkies I plan to explore the distortion on the C4 more deeply. I've never really found a use for dirt in my contexts/sonic sensibilities, but always think "well, I might find a use for it..." so I'm open to try, then compare it with my Hookers Green.

C4 definitely knocked the Mooer Tender Octave off my board. Great little pedal, but unnecessary now.

I mostly keep my fuzz to feed my envelope filter, But after review, by comparison to the fuzz options I’ll leave it on my board for now. The only other thing I use is a TC Spark with the gain rolled back to nearly nothing.

I have a feeling if people want a SA unit for any of this, just get an AS.

Does the C4 can simulate 8string bass?
