source audio c4

I'm assuming you both are looking for a single pedal that can control the C4 on it's own, with no other pieces to the puzzle? Other than the DMC Micro, I'm not aware of any. You'll need either a Neuro Hub or some type of USB Host, along with a MIDI controller in order to have the ability to recall whatever preset you want. I had a Hub already, so that's the route I went. They can be found used for a relatively decent price.
I've got a Hub too. You went with the Morningstar right? With a hub is it possible to use pretty much any MIDI controller?

C4 integrated into a hub / Boss ES-5 rig. C4 is receiving midi on ch 7 really well.

im curious to know if the c4 stacks up as a low pass filter with expression cutoff compared to a xero or mf101
I have a Xero and now C4, and at least based on initial experiments I think the C4 stacks up fantastically (and with WAY more options as well). Definitely no lack of natural fatness or grit if you want. It’s definitely not quite as set and forget as a Xero though due to limited control on the pedal itself (but the Neuro app makes deeper editing pretty easy and intuitive- I haven’t even read a manual yet and have been able to figure stuff out easily).

Has anyone compared this against the EHX Bass Micro Synth? I use the EHX for a fuzz tone with a sub octave. Thinking of switching to the C4 to save space and increase functionality, but only if it can cover that sub fuzz sound.
I'll try to check that next week, I am planning top set up an all synth board this weekend, something with my 24v Bass Micro Synth [hereafter BmS] in the loop of the Superego+ after the C4 with my Zooms.

Im back and still banging my head against a wall.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am at a loss and would love to know how I can further troubleshoot.

I went out and purchased the micro.ghost but still cant get the C4 to do anything via MIDI.

The chain is now:
Morningstar Midi Out - Micro.Ghost Midi In - (C4 Connected VIA USB Host) - Micro Ghost Midi Out - HX Stomp.

All the PC changes I make on Channel 1 to the HX stomp are working as expected.
I want the C4 to be MIDI 2. I switched the back switches on the Ghost to be MIDI 2, changed this in the Neuro APP as well, but I cant get any changes to happen. No CC changes, no Bypass. Nothing.

Morningstar CC values are set to the ones listed in the C4 Manual.

Basically I want to recall Preset 1 in the Neuro App
The Values I am putting in are :

CC# 104 Value 1 ( for the first preset since c4 starts art 1 and not 0 )

What I am I missing?
Who can I coax into for a skype call haha

Hey, I have a very similar setup! HX Stomp, Morningstar, C4, and the new micro.ghost.

I had the same initial issue because I wanted to put the midi channel to the C4 on channel 3, but it wasn’t working.
I contacted Disaster Area, and they informed me that there was a glitch and that a firmware update was coming soon. (The glitch was that channels 2 and 3 on the micro.ghost are reversed from the manual description)

They already have the firmware out and I did the update. It all runs smoothly now!

From my email with them...

“Firmware update tools are here:
disasterareadesigns.com/files

And here’s a video showing the update procedure with the MIDI Baby. The steps are the same with the ghost, except you must flip SW8 (far right) before inserting the USB cable to start the bootloader.

Once you’ve updated you should find that the DIP switches agree with the text on the lid and in the manual.”

I hope that helps!

Things are a little busy for me at the moment, but I have an EHX Hog 2 on my board (or rather under to be precise). When I get a chance I'll A:B them. I'm between rigs at the moment so it's hard for me to analyse anything at the moment. But the C4's octaver is a lot less digital sounding than any digital octaver I've tried so far. It's very close sounding to an OC-2...but not SO close for a law suit. It's certainly in the ball park tonally. The filters and sweeps sound very analogue too, especially if one uses a Low Pass filter on the end.

THANK YOU! I am going to give this a whirl now. But glad to hear I was maybe not that dense :)

I've got a setup question!

Let's say I want to play a track whose bass has a) a fixed envelope for a mild, synthy attack kind of sound, think 90s or early 2000s Juno bass, maybe less wet/detuned. I can demo an approximation if needed. That and b) an exp pedal controlled filter that sweeps the whole thing from wide open to muddy dub, so it'd go after the envelope trigger. A small amount of octave-down sound mixed in as well.

From my basic understanding of the pedal's abilities (or the modular Neuro software's), that sort of thing is feasible for a C4 patch, yes? Probably standard fare, but I just spent all my money on an Audiokinesis Hathor 1203, so wanna be super smart about spending the money I don't have. Haha

sounds doable, just use one filter for mild envelope, and the other filter and assign it to external modulation.
