Then perhaps daisy-chaining may be the OP’s issue with clock sync. In my case I always utilize a MIDI splitter (or now a DMC controller plus a splitter on the output, with the exception of the C4 which connects direct to the DMC) to split MIDI to my different pedals. Too many pedals don’t work well (or at all) for MIDI-thru in my experience

I am planning to get a C4, and also plan to get the Neuro hub to be able to control it via midi.
I was thinking of getting a switcher (the Musicom Lab EFX LE is on my radar). As it is able to send both PC and CC messages, I guess it should work with the hub in between.
Anybody has any experience with this combination ?

@estimated_eyes Several of us have worked on that but it will never replace a good pitch shifter like a POG, Whanmmy, Quint Machine or UniBass.

I feel like the octave down stuff I have played with on the C4 has been pretty good. I'm even using a real clean octave down on guitar that I think sounds fantastic.

What is it that makes the octave up a bit more challenging? (genuinely curious)

The OC-2 uses this really simple circuit to detect the zero crossings and then create a division of this. The same circuit does not do so well on octave up.

It has to do with the engines that SA used and the intended purpose, for synthesis and using with the various voices they are perfect but as stand alone pitch shifters the algorithms are simply not as robust as those used by others. On my board I am still using a UniBass, Quint Machine and SubNUp mini for octave up tones. The Quint is especially cool since it can really expand from a mono synth sound from the C4 by adding an octave down, Up and a Fifth up.

If you haven't already - I suggest taking a stab at making an OC-2 effect yourself if you have access to the desktop editor. It's honestly probably the easiest one to get close to as the OC-2 is a monophonic pitch effect.

The blue section - Voice 1-4 - If you set voice 1 to monophonic pitch 1, octave -1 - it's pretty much the OC-2 -1 octave. Voice 2 - monophonic pitch 2 - Octave +1 - it's the +1 octave from the OC-2.

IF you want your dry bass signal in the mix, you can use the wet/dry master control. You can se the voice levels, and input level to balance your the volume levels of effects vs dry to balance your volumes a bit, and use the output volume master control to balance the output with your clean signal.

I'm not saying to avoid presets if you prefer to use them, and I don't mean to assume you haven't already played around a bit.

But - it's almost hard to mess up the OC-2/OC-3 mono noises once you start messing around. The experience, personally made the editor less intimidating.

I have a Boss OC-3 and I only use it for the monophonic -1 octave wet signal. It didn't take much fiddling around to get something hard to distinguish from it.

Not stupid at all. I keep going back to the Pure Octaves stock sound #6 that I then tailored for my bass and touch. That one just sits best. The others are very interesting but in this case there is a reason for the industry standard and imho Nathan and the SA guys nailed it.

You simply sent them to the pedal (via the Desktop or Mobile app) and play them. As long as you don't save/burn them there, the presets stored on your pedal will stay untouched.

And that’s where the “slippery slope” began for me.

I was thinking just a few presets, but after I started playing with what’s already out there in the community, hours had passed.

I burned a bunch of them, then began the tweaking. I was glad I had a midi switch to call up all the presets I’m now using live.

No longer keeping it simple, but ...

my bad - nice catch - still - setting the monophonic pitch effects to -1 and -2 in the editor should cover anything the OC-2 can do .

Very much so, and the actual sound of the -1 is pretty darn convincing. Most OC2 bassists don't bother with the Oct -2 though.

I am curious about this as well.

Although, I'm pretty sure the connection on the DMC is a micro usb, not mini

The OC-3 is the same. The -2 is useless on bass.

It's been 5 years since I changed any settings on my OC-3 which is direct 0% - Oct 1 100% - oct 2 0% and the mode selecter knob set to "Oct 2" which is the "OC-2" or monophonic mode.

Lesson learned - fact check your from the top of my head answers when I haven't looked at a pedal's settings in the 5 years since you found "THE" sound that you like from it.

Some of us have a guitar or two hanging around too though.
