I tried to recreate the sound of the bass synth in this song (i maybe get the gig with that singer, and it would be the perfect situation to turn on the C4 and blow everyones mind, haha)

This is the song:


The bass synth sound comes in around here:


i am pretty new to the synth world, but to my ear, it is a very "typical" bass synth sound - can anyone steer me in the right direction witch combinations of oscillators and filters / envelopes get me in that ballpark? i had no real luck until now. If i find something, i'll happily share the patch.

Sine voice with a -1 octave. Then select the right Envelope and adjust the settings for the right ADSR.

Then pick 6 sounds you like, burn them to the toggle switch and then never use MIDI or a computer for the life of the pedal......unless you want to replace those 6 sounds.

Sorry I did not get to this yesterday. I would urge you to start with the Neuro Desktop. It is much easier to see what is going on, and you can get the most recent version of the firmware if necessary. When you are good with the Desktop, it is easy to move to the mobile. Note that the Mobile is only one direction of communication. The Desktop is bi-directional.

I second rsmith601's idea. If you don't want to mess with all the stuff, grab your top 6 and have at it. That's already more than many pedals for the same $$$. Or even if you're not down with doing your own stuff, just a USB into your computer is just as easy as plugging a phone into a laptop, so you could taste a bunch and very occasional switch your 6 patches.

Both are worthy choices for sure. My 2 cents.

The Boss is polyphonic, great sounds but it is all presets that are not going to change or evolve.

The C4 is going to evolve whether you are into creating your own sounds or using sounds in the ever growing library 6 or 128 at a time. I see you are not digging the linking with the computer aspect and I can sorta see that but that is part of the evolution of the C4.

It's just when you get live with a band.....it's not the time to edit with a computer. My 2 cents.....what sounds good alone doesn't necessarily mean it will in a mix. But I'm very intrigued by the editor. I've been using Ableton for more than 10 years so I'm kinda used to tweaking synths.

Yep. So you save the top 6 you like in those spots...no editing needed. I personally don't plan on ever doing any 'stage editing' beyond maybe volume and sensitivity which I'd do with any envelope or synth.

If you do have the MIDI, you can just punch whichever patch you want and still not edit. :)

That's a fair point.
I will add that if you've got experience designing synth tones you'll actually find the C4 easy to dial in. All of the vocabulary you've learned carries over to the C4's parameters.

The Android Editor (phone) is effective and good for a fast level tweak but it is one way. I have used it with the Aftershock and feel confident I can do the same with the C4 for levels, don't think I will get into sound creation on my phone. I keep a Neuro cable velcro'd to my pedal board for handy access.

As far as Neuro Desktop goes it is daunting at first but if an old Luddite like me can drive it--you'll be fine for sure after using Ableton. I'm still using Cakewalk, doh.
