source audio c4

I am getting a horrendous clicking noise when engaging my C4 using Morningstar MC6->Neuro Hub->C4. The Midi channel is set on 2 and the pedal will turn on but it shows it is receiving a message for ~5 seconds and makes a fast clicking sound the whole time. I've powered the C4 using a Cioks 4 and separately with the included adapter but getting the same clicking sound.

I've used two different cables from the hub to the C4.

The MC6 editor shows a Press action sending CC 105 w/ value 1 on MIDI channel 2 to the C4. The pedal will turn off and on but the sound is terrible and the send/receive light on the C4 is lit the whole time.

I'm not having the same issue changing patches on my Future Impact. I'm running the MC6->Hub->C4 connection directly, no other MIDI or pedals involved.

Please help stop the madness! Thanks in advance.

You should probably be sending a value of 64 or greater to use use engage/bypass toggle function.

Thank you, Q. That is very helpful vs. the manual's value of "any". There is still a single click sound from the C4 when engaging or turning off. Is that normal? - Also there are occasional misfires where the C4 doesn't turn off. I have the MC6 sensitivity turned to 3. Are misfires a fact of life for MIDI? The Hub stays lit up to 5 seconds when I press the MC6.

The click is the relay and is normal for single I/O patches.

Have you tried resetting the Hub? It has occasionally locked up on me of late.

I use 102 to switch my C4 on and off. I’ll try with 102 and see what happens for me.

I spoke too soon. I just tried this and the angry click came back. It's really terrible sounding, lol

I just tested it and CC105 works for me with any value.

Have you checked if you have any other active messages on that button (perhaps in 9-16 as they aren’t visible until you click on their tab)?

No other actions on 9-16. Just the 1st message. The pedal and hub are currently on isolated outputs on the Cioks.

The On/Off action (Preset A for me) is not making the click now but Preset B, (104, Value 7) does the horrible continuous clicking noise. Value 6 does it as well.

104 engages a particular preset doesn't it? Perhaps your presets are corrupt.

This was caused by an infinite MIDI loop. Fixed now.

In other words, user error. If anyone uses a similar setup and runs into a same issue there are two options to fix this: 1) Do NOT connect the MIDI out of the Hub back into the MC6 but if you do, (2) turn OFF MIDI Thru on the MC6. Otherwise, if you are a complete MIDI noob like myself the CC messages will continue in an infinite loop until a piece of hardware says "Enough is enough". Thanks again, Q!

You’re welcome.

I’d really recommend checking out the videos Morningstar have on their website which show you various features of their controllers and how to set them up. You may know how to do this stuff already but then again there may be some nuggets of info you aren’t aware of.

I want to ask the people here that feel they have a good handle on creating new sounds from a blank slate, how they go about building them. I am pretty sure you start with the voice block, but there are a lot of options there so what is it you consider the foundational building blocks to creating a sound.
