Source Audio EQ2

Yes - only pedal connected. So you’re saying this behaviour is not as designed ?

What ratio and range is the gate set to?
Just not understanding what’s going on here, could be something else in your chain is causing noise after the eq2. It’s just a noise gate, I believe it’s setup like the filter gate in the distortions, are you using both in/outs? Because you’ll need to set the noise gate to operate on both channels and not just one 1.

No, that's not 100% the case. A noise gate isn't an on/off type thing...

Hey Derek, yes youre right, it all depends on the configuration of the parameters of the gate.

With a threshold set at -25dB and a ratio of a mild 4:1, a signal coming at at -50dB will be attenuated down 100dB resulting in -150dB

( attenuation = ( threshold - signal ) * ratio )

Given the 24bit depth of the converters the internal dynamic range can be no more than 144dB, but in practice would be closer to 96dB ( SA quote 110dB in their manual). So effectively silent. But what I am hearing is definitely some form of frequency dependant processing.

Yes, I thought this was a simple noise gate also but my ears are telling me otherwise.

I put the pedal on the bench for some quick tests, and here are the dynamic response curves for 5kHz, 500Hz, 100Hz and 40Hz. Clearly not the response you would hear from a plain gate - perhaps there is something up with this pedal?

Test gear was the EQ2 pedal connected directly to an RME interface.

I have always wanted to set up a test system for my pedals to see what they are doing to the sound and what the specifics are of the sounds I like are. I swapped out the EQ2 and grabbed a Darkglass Harmonic Booster and ran some tests.

Was quite straightforward to replicate with the frequency response in the EQ2. Obviously this is a digital recreation so there are none of the non-linearities, but its enough of a model that the DG has been booted off the board ( I have another pedal that gives me the clean boost component of the DG to be able to drive tubes a little harder for some fur)

Neuro preset is up on the cloud: "TDC: Harmonic Booster" Try it out and see what you think. I will most likely set this up in parallel mode and map some exp controls to allow it to be varied on the fly.

Might be best to email [email protected] continuing on with this issue, that way I can get input from our engineer to see what he thinks can be done.

Is the setting of the Master Output knob global (my preference), or is it saved with each individual preset?

(I would like to use the per-channel gain settings to balance the levels from one preset to the next, saved per preset, and use the Master Output on the fly to adjust all presets at once.)

Saved per preset, along with the trim controls for each channel.

The lowest and the highest frequency band can be clicked in the Neuro interface to make them HPF and LPF. There's also an independent HPF that's clickable with an adjustable frequency range. Each of the EQ bands have adjustable frequency centers and Q (width). Stereo or dual channels...and 128 patch over midi. Add the volume over expression and selectable frequency Q over expression (a massively customizable wah / filter) and the sweet tuner....this is easily the most versatile EQ pedal ever built. I can't wait for uk shipments!

There is a LPF but the lowest and highest frequencies can be set to shelving, not to HPF and LPF.

Just my yearly gush. EQ2 has now proved so useful that it is the ONE pedal I would want if I could only use one effect. Never thought I'd say that a year or two ago. It is so versatile and there is nothing quite like the tone-shaping a graphic EQ can provide. A lot of my favorite P bass tones remove a lot of 500Hz (like the way an SVT does with a deep switch), and EQ2 is so much more precise than a semi-parametric EQ on a preamp cause it doesn't kill the surrounding frequencies and sound overly scooped. Then you can recall your faves. I just keep finding new reasons to love this thing.

Such as seeing that my request for a togglable continuously-variable Q was added since I updated last. Thanks gang!

Hello guys
Is it possible to control the Eq2 with a boss GT10B + the neuro hub ?
And would i be able to use the expression pedal (on gt10) to control eq2 parameter ?

Thanks

P.S
(I already own th atlas comp and going to but the neuro hub and the Eq2. My gt10b will finally be used as a midi contrôler only. But for the moment it's still in the signal path.)

You wouldn’t need a neuro hub for the eq2 it has midi din connections, and if you the atlas, the new midi adapter would be a good option if you don’t plan on getting more source audio pedals.
