Source Audio EQ2

Is it possible to use my EQ2 as a mono signal blender plugging a distortion pedal into the 2nd input and 2nd output in a loop? so i have a wet/dry to mix out??

Forgive my possible ignorance, i have read the manual but still unsure about whether this is possible.
To my knowledge there is no cross fading ability on the EQ2. So you can’t fade ch1 with ch2. However, you can with the Ultrawave.

I have just uploaded some Noble curves if you are interested. Found some Noble frequency response charts and mimicked them.
Thanks for this, I've downloaded two of your patches and modified them for use with my expression pedal.
Patch A - bass boost mapped to external expression. The zero point on my expression pedal treadle is mapped to the default +2.4 db gain of the other sliders.
Patch B - Bass and treble boost mapped to external expression. I'll share with the community in a bit once I've tested it a bit more.

Niceone sounds like a cool idea!

Can EQ2 among others replace ABY pedal? I did not manage to find answers to this, sorry if being redundant.
I am running two drives parallel and combined in ABY pedal wich unites two signals into one path.
Can this piece do that as well since it has two inputs?

Thanks

Yes. I have previously used the Source Audio Ultrawave to split a signal (one high passed, the other low), and then recombined with an EQ2. The EQ2 also has the option of inverting phase, incase you have a phase mismatch.

I have the older programmable EQ and I’m pretty set on upgrading to the EQ2. Can any of you guys currently using the latter please comment - how useful is it to you to be able to adjust the centre frequency and the Q for each band? And do you use the capacity to switch between peak and shelf settings for the lowest and highest bands at all? Just curious.

The possibilities for tweaking the EQ curve seem so extensive that I’m wondering how much difference they actually make in practice. It certainly seems a very different animal to the EQ1 SA170 that I have at present. How much has the EQ2 pedal helped you find sounds you want to use?

I use my EQ2 near the beginning of my chain and also near the end so it's like having 2 eq pedals on my board. This is a really cool feature to have. I use 2 EQ curves based on the Noble DI curve that i've tweaked abit and made "flatter" in the low end, then currently have a HPF at 140hz and a LPF set at 5khz. My low end is super clean and doesn't interfere with the low end from the drums and it still sounds bassy in the mix. I love it! Then incase i need to change it in live use, i have the same preset copied 8 times on my unit with the HPF going down 10hz each time (down to 70hz last preset) with the EQ curves adjusted for each one so they are all practically the same curve.

I also have it hooked up to a duel expression pedal along with an Ultrawave. So when i push the pedal down to kick in distortion it boosts some mids and a little bass boost at same time. This connectivity is another feature i love about it.

The EQ2 pedal has helped me find the sounds i want to use absolutely and also find sounds i didn't expect to.. It's so amazing and the brains in my pedalboard.

Apologies if this is already addressed somewhere here or docs.

When I use the EQ2 tuner (by pressing and holding the footswitch, it scrolls through 4 presets then I release when I see the fat "T")-- after I finish tuning, and exit by pressing the footswitch, it seems that I can't get back to the mode of a currently lit preset and pressing holding the footswitch to change presets. Is there some kind of timer in effect? Right now, I have to reach down and press the preset (finger) button to get back to presets.

Plug your EQ2 into your desktop / laptop via USB and fire up Neuro Desktop. Locate your EQ2 in the Connections box and click on the "Hardware Options" button that looks like a Cog. Once the panel has opened, look down to the 4th Hardwre Option (Global) Box. It shoukd say ON/OFF Footswitch Option and use the drop down menu to select the 4th option (4-Upstroke +Hold Tuner).
This will stop the preset scolling with the Stomper button and configure it to engage the Tuner on hold. This setting works best for me, but please feel free to try some ofthe other options and see what works for you.

While you are here...also tick the "Preset Extension Mode" box. This will expand your device presets from 4 to 8.
Also choose the "Tuner Instrument Range" to "Bass Low" if you are using a low B.

I hope this helps

I've never tried the SA170. However, the EQ2 is a lot more sophisticated.
It is Stereo that can be split into optional 2 independant channels, each with the option of holding a different curve on each channel. This opens up a plethora of mono routing options.
It's also got the topion of attaching an expression pedal for a vastly expanded pallet of options (volume swells, low pass sweeps or a Wah wah). It's also got a great tuner built in and it's also got a high pass filter and if you use the 10th slider Low pass option (using the drop down) that becomes a Low pass filter too (which you can assign the frequency of the low pass to the expression pedal). You have 10 bands of EQ on the EQ2 and each slider is fully configurable for +/- 18db Gain, Frequency and Q. Which is pretty unique in the world of 10 band EQ's.
The new Neuro Desktop interface is really good as graphically displaying your curve and it's really easy to visually dial in your desired curve.

For me, I'm using my EQ2 quite late on my Board's chain and by then it's all stereo. So I'm using it as a stereo device with a single curve for both channels.
I have a dedicated expression pedal attached to my EQ2 which I use to control either Volume Swells, or frequency shifts (aka a low pass filter or Wah Wah) depending on which patch I'm using.
It's by far the most versatile and powerful EQ in pedal form currently available and I really don't expect anyone else to take EQ's quite this far. This is as good as it gets and it is extremely good.

Thanks for those tips. I'll check all those settings. I normally use a clip-on tuner, but didn't have it this last gig.

It seems like the behavior I described might be a bug.

My only reason for choosing 4 presets and not 8, is how long it takes to wait as it cycles through all 8. I can get it done with 4 presets for now. I'm not sure, but it might be useful to be able to choose the number of presets and have the foot-switch cycle through them (any number from 1-8, if 1 then on/bypass)
