Sweet, I like the clip. I wish the settings had been included. Still, I think I'll try the Tube Drive model again and see what I can come up with.

I've had luck with doing some clean blend and then EQing all the lows out of the distortion signal. Gonna try that first, I think.

to get a low tube amp grind you can start with the BBBOD settings but just use a lower amount of drive and then adjust the eq a little

My band just finished recording over the weekend, and the OFD performed brilliantly. Here are two tracks for you to check out; I used the overdrive setting I got with the Tube Drive on the first one (it kicks in after the first verse) and the fuzz setting I got with the Big Pi on the second one (when it comes in, you'll hear it :D).

I ran to my van to grab my board and program a lowish gain TRANSPARENT drive for this weekends shows. I realized that I left my board in our trailer which I won't have access to until load in.

I usually don't go around requesting patches, but.....given my inability to tweak before the show, has anyone came up with a patch that adds some grit but is essentially transparent. I tried some of the patches when I got it with eq flat and low gain but they still seemed like they needed more eq tweaking. I mostly bought this for the synthy patch and the higher gain Rat patch, so I didn't really go around messing with the lower gain stuff.

Pick one of the tube drives, gain set low or off, and use the blend to taste. You probably won't have to mess with EQ, maybe just cut some bass or mids to flavor your sound.

The blend is the key to keeping it transparent, it's very sensitive and will go from too much grit to not enough with a small turn so take your time and dial it in carefully.

Figured I'd throw this out there. I was having trouble dialing in my "OCD" tone with the TS9000. I hooked my OCD up up at my fav setting and ran the OFD in the same chain. I just kept switching between the two and kept tweaking the OFD till it was pretty much dead on with my OCD settings. Helped me a lot. Sounds almost identical. I was dialing in way too much mids.

Hey guys! Thought I'd show a little love here. I just made a short little demo of the OFD at very low gain. Excuse my playing, Its been a hell of a week.

Recording Chain:
Ibanez ATK -> GK800RB -> Digi003 -> Protools (No added comp or eq)

Clips are as follows:
Clean, Tube Drive (gain at noon, a tad of clean), Crunch Tube (gain at 9:00, a tad bit of bass boost)

I run my Catalinbread SFT with pretty heavy gain, which makes it sound a little like blowing up speakers (very heavy clipping, lot of woof). I use it for bar chords and big sweeping phaser stuff where it just sustains. It's pretty great. Yesterday I dialed up a very similar tone with the OFD using the TS9000. It's still a little more polite than the SFT but it's clearer, less mud. Might be better in that way. I've been using the SFT like that as a one trick pony, so I think it may be time to move it along. Another win for the OFD.

Yup. The OFD is winning hard!

I've had it for 2 months now, which is when I usually get over the gear 'honeymoon period' and go back to my old reliable setup. I'm still loving the OFD and finding new sounds every week! (Using an expression pedal I'm using it as a volume pedal as well.) Done gigs in the U.S., Canada and Japan and the OFD is on 2 records so far this year (nailed a cool vintage fuzz sound for a bass break on an instrumental track I should be able to post soon). VERY happy with it!

Sometimes it's hard to conceive of non-standard ways of using these pedals.

Volume via expression
Volume Boost
Volume Cut
Etc.

Yup. Could be uses as an eq in a pinch. Or a foot-pedal adjustable eq! Can you say "pedal bass boost"? I know I can! :D
