Source Audio Sorcerers Society (S.A.S.S) Part 3

That computer based librarian can't come soon enough! I just realized that the 'knob discovery' function doesn't work with HUB saved scenes. I have to find each setting by ear. 4-6 weeks aaaaaahhhhh!!!! I want it now!

And a pony. I want a pony now too.

Rehearsal last night for next Sunday. Punched up my 2 presets for the Orbital during 2 different songs and everybody liked them a lot! My rehearsal for Wednesday is tonight and I'm looking forward to doing some similar stuff. One song is going heavily mixed with an DR E dome blend for the intro and first section. Just ordered some risers to get a little better access. New palets are opening up. Tonight is Fretless. PentaBuzz. Looking forward to this.

Tonight the Orbital slayed the tone on our last song on tonight's rehearsal for tomorrow's (Wednesday ) set. The rest was new "regular tone". Touch of DR, touch of mild OFD, PEQ, and some Compression with a little more sustain dialled up for Fretless. Got in a nice 8 bar run in at the end of the end climax for the last song. Guitar boy gave me a smug look and a head shake after running through the end 5 or 6 times for the singer. Nailed it nicely.

Every rehearsal and session is becoming more and more fun!

I need some help from you source audio tech savy people...I've had my HH3, BEF pro and MVBD pro for about a year without issues. Last night my HH failed to sync to the reciever module. The ring is fully charged, the blue lights on both the ring and the reciever flash blue slowly. I cycled the power multiple times on both the ring and the reciever, in various combinations. I also tried powering the sensor via both the pedals and/or the power supply. No luck. I took the rubber cover off the ring and no damage, shorts, or problems are evident on the internals.

Is this a warranty issue? Anything else I can try? I turned off all the wifi/cell phones in the house and can't see any reason it shouldn't sync up.

Then to make it worse...tonight it sync'd up once briefly, but after turning off the ring it wouldn't do it again despite repeated attempts. I'm about ready to stomp my precious ring into the ground in frustration....:crying:

Good morning everyone. Looks like I'm finally down with the SA sickness.

I have read many SA threads for the last year give or take. I avoided going down this rabbit hole because the gigs in my life at the time, really didnt require me to need any snynth/dub stuff more exotic than a Mark Bass SS.

Currently playing in two worship bands. One is the L3 group which is high school/college. Lots of heavy synth and dub. because we have no synth player, I keep hearing music and saying," Oh I know I could get pretty dang close to that with SA."

So in order to add value and stay relevant because I'm not ready to be an old guy yet, I am putting my checkbook where my mouth is.

Thus far, I grabbed a MWBD and a BEF Pro from a TBer. Also took advantage of of the HH3/Wah deal just this morning. (Thank you SA!)

All this said, after reading for days until my eyes bled, I have a really stupid question to ask that I am certain has been answered no less than 10 times. Yet I cannot find it.

Would anyone be so kind as to summarize the difference between running a MWBD/BEF Pro versus a Manta? Speaking with great ignorance, it appears that the Manta/HH3 is really a more user friendly/idiot proof/potentially but not necessarily dumbed down version (with upgrades) of the MWBD/BEF Pro.
Is this true?

Im trying to figure out if I should just turn the MWBD/BEF Pro immediately and just grab a Manta, in the interest of potential forward compatibility in the event I end up jumping on the Hub/Midi band wagon.

Any thoughts or comments (including shut yur pie hole, old man) are most welcome ! :)

I think the Manta's two biggest selling points compared to other, similar products (SA or otherwise) are:

(1) All of the current SA goodies, especially HH3 and Hub compatibility.
(2) The way the distortion is integrated, it has its own internal loop. The envelope gets triggered by your clean dynamics, then the distortion is applied, then the clean-trigger envelope is applied. I think the Wonderlove offers a similar loop where you have to supply your own dirt pedal, and maybe some others do as well, but it's rare. For this reason alone, you can't completely replicate some of the Manta sounds with the BEF/MWBD combo.

This is EXACTLY the answer I was looking for. Thanks so much !

I've come across this before, and the two options are typically a full ring reset. One way, is let the battery charge of the ring run out completely, re-charge, and that should fix it. The other is a kind of a hot-wire technique I can send you a document detailing the steps. Email me at [email protected] and I can forward that doc.
