Source Audio Sorcerers Society (S.A.S.S) Part 3

Factory and community is mixed at the moment. Community is kind of killing it, to be honest!
There are some great ones in there — Nate’s especially. I guess I was hoping for a Factory list like on the Aftershock which has emulations of a variety of classic OD/distortion/fuzz pedals to choose from and build upon. Still can’t complain about the way this thing sounds and the infinite possibilities it has

I also need some hub functionality support. I read in the manual no PC messages via hub. Is scene switching supported yet? As in, can I create a scene with the C4, Aftershock and Gemini, save it and switch to it with my midi pedal as usual? PC would be from switcher to hub, hub would change pedal presets.

Edit: using Windows laptop and Neuro Desktop app
My best understanding: no scene or PC support though the Hub, instead the C4's presets are accessed via CC which is similar to the Nemesis and Ventris.

No. We need to be more clear about this. C4 presets are HUGE and cannot be supported as part of Scenes by the Hub at the moment. The Hub needs a complex firmware update to support this. We had a choice a few months ago: Make the C4 much less programmable and flexible OR have the current Hub support the C4. We made the call to go with the former. Note that you can make presets on the C4 in the editor and then use a CC to recall them. (CC104 does this)

Spent some time with the C4 last night and it’s a ton of fun! Great work with the community presets everyone

My C-4 is here, which is the good news. The bad news is that I can't get the Neuro iOS mobile app to work.
I am using a iPhone 8 with a dongle, the latest available iOS and the supplied cable to connect to the C-4. NO matter what I do. I can't send presets to the C-4. The function LED doesn't flash, and I don't hear any changes when I select a preset, or even if I select "burn" and send it to a toggle position.

Also, when the Neuro connecting cable is plugged in (to input 2, as specified) there is no synth output at all in toggle position 2 (either red or green bank). With the cable removed, the toggle 2 presets in either bank work normally. I've tried flipping the audio output channel and inverting the audio output phase, but neither change makes a difference. When I plug my headphones into the app I do hear white noise. So, I am stumped.

Any other troubleshooting ideas? Thanks!
One quick thought, do you have your volume at max on your phone? I forgot about that when I first gave the app a go, but then remembered and I could send settings after that.

Ok, so connect C4 to laptop via mini USB, create preset and save to pedal in say slot 10, map hub midi to send CC#104 with value 10 and it should engage that preset on the C4 whenever I select that particular scene via PC on the hub? I'll have to study things a bit to work it out. Hub scenes are a big part of my set-up, very depressing that it won't work with the C4. But I think I can work around it with the CC message. Maybe? Hopefully?

Yes, I have my C4 working like this via the Hub a part of a larger pedalboard/midi switching system. Seems to be totally reliable and solid much like with the Nemesis/Ventris.

Awesome, thanks. I got the C4 on Friday, but haven't had a chance to play with it beyond the factory presets. Hopefully later this evening. Thanks for the confirmation that it does work. No more depression! :hyper::hyper::hyper:

Happy to help alleviate the depression! There are so many great sounds in the community - so exciting to see new ones popping up every day.

I have some fairly crude sound demos of the patches I have uploaded:

If anyone has it would love to hear a demo

I have a "Bass Synth" preset which is pretty close to this - you can hear a crude demo of the sound in my soundcloud link a couple posts above. The sound in that video is 100% achievable with the C4.

Also, if anyone was interested I finally came upon a sound that I feel is close enough to the EHX Bassballs for the sound I needed; it's in parallel with a lower octave voice and published on the neuro app as "16" in case anyone wants to check it out, and possibly tweak to be something closer to the Bassballs sound.

Please send a note to [email protected] and describe your set up. Those guys are better at debugging than I am. Did you try the Volume Calibration routine I suggested?
I will contact them directly, thanks! I haven't tried the volume calibration routine because I can't figure how to do so. Can you direct me to a tutorial or explain what i should do? Thanks so much!

Has anyone found a really good Chameleon in the community presets ? ( Chameleon being the ARP Oddesy bass l

ine from the Herbie Hancock tune for the non - fusion listening youngsters among us)
The manta came very close to it! I had it dialed in according to the suggested settings pdf (on the bass manta page of SA) and saved as a preset when I still had my manta. I'll attach screen shots. Filter #5 on the manta is a Notch > low-pass filter. Should be easily replicable with the c4!

No but you might check out my Blind Salamander for an alternative.

I did and it’s a cool patch, burned onto my pedal. So thanks!
Blind Salamamder is not really in the Herbie clean ARP ADSR wheelhouse though. To me, that is the seminal bass synth sound. Agreed in advance that there are others in the running. Some of the MOOG guys got great bass patches too. Chameleon did it for me though.
