I get the impression that this was designed for guitar players who don't ever plan to plug their pedal to a computer or a phone and everything is laid bare in the pedal knobs and interface. My guitar player is genuinely interested in this, while he thinks of my other Series 1 pedals as something that belongs on a space shuttle. I have tried to tell him for YEARS, that just because it can do something doesn't mean that you have to use that aspect. But he always felt like he was "paying for features he wasn't going to use." As a result, he is looking into getting one of these to replace the delay and reverb that he currently has because it is actually easier to use.
Yes, target customer! :)

I received my Micro gHost from Disaster Area earlier this week (pics to follow, I took a few, but my phone decided not to save them for some rando reason).

Any thoughts from people who are using other controllers when it comes to 'expression control'? I assume I can use the: External Expression Control: CC:100 (0-127) :: Assign parameters with Neuro Editor

...And setup one of the expression inputs on my ES-5. Anyone working this way and anything I should consider?

This would give me the opportunity to use a single expression control for multiple MIDI devices (Timeline delay, Atmosphere reverb, Future Impact Synth). To date I'm using a Neuro-Hub with my C4.

I'm not settled in to any one configuration yet re: Hub vs. Micro gHost, just playing around until something is comfy.
I initially used the expression cc over midi via my Soleman. I ended up returning my dual SA expression and got a reflex instead. I now have multiple Expression outputs that I can control the output of via the reflex.

The only caveat when using midi CC (at least on the Soleman) was that it was all or nothing. Ie the midi output was going to everything via Omni or only a specific channel via midi (say ,I’d I channel 3 for my M9). But then the hub wasn’t getting midi expression on Ch1. If have to go in and reconfigure to the channel I wanted to send it to. The reflex solved those problems. Now I have 1 analog expression going to the Neuro Hub for the SA stuff and I send midi for exp 1 and 2 direct to the HX stomp out of the reflex. I can also send it to my whammy on a different channel since the reflex does 3 midi channel sends simultaneously. It’s a sweet ass expression pedal.

That makes sense. Right now I'm using a Dunlop DVP3 for my expression (though I also have another cheap expression pedal too). I believe that when I'm using the ES-5 I can activate the expression input in my patch-build and choose the MIDI channel I want to send it to and all those details. I reviewed that manual today along with the C4 to see if there were any bumps in the road.

I have my C4 on MIDI Channel 1, and I think I can just set the Micro gHost for that same channel for it as well. I also theoretically have both EXP pedal options on my DMC-3 and/or it has an expression roller on board too (I had them add one when built just in case of). Until now it was just as easy to put the expression in on the Hub but I also want to give a try with the DA unit and see if that is in any way better, though it's probably a lateral move beyond being able to assign the EXP to any of my MIDI pedals. I only have the C4, so not having 'scenes' doesn't really come into play.

A high pass filter is the same as a low cut filter. There is nothing on the delay side that would allow you to reduce the amount of low frequencies being fed into the feedback circuit of the delay.

Yep. For me, the trick for many time-based effects for bass is to be able to pull the lows out of what you're feeding into the pedal, so you don't 'swamp the zone.' Really effective if you want to use delay & reverb with any regular basis. One of the reasons I love Iron Ether effects is that they've nearly always included a HPF into their controls, including on things like their chorus pedal. It's also why I have a handful of adjustable crossover loop pedals as well.

I really like the toggle idea for the control interface on the Collider. I wish the C4 had one of those rather than having to press the little button up on top while tweeking knobs.

I'm still lobbying for that lil' button's function to be updated in a firmware update. Would be great if it didn't time out at 6 seconds. Either something like 15 or 'alt' until you press it again and it goes back to 1st state. 'In the field' there's no way you can twist that knob, play a bit to test...and get back to twisting in 6 seconds...unless you have three arms/hands.

@rsmith601 I'm actually now leaning more towards the Ventris now, but that is predicated upon the idea that, like the Collider, one can have 2 reverbs in a stereo mix, not just 2 mono reverbs in parallel. Is that right, or is the Collider the first one to have that feature? I'm less apt to use the Collider's delay side unless my band adds One of These Days to the setlist, and I'm all about being able to use the Shimmer with another reverb, such as the Swell or E-Dome. Thanks in advance! And of course, thanks for making these awesome pedals!

It is really important to look at the routing diagrams in the Ventris manual. Stereo can mean different things. I am very clear in the manual.

As promised, here's one of the first round of Disaster Area's Micro gHosts. For now, I've decided to hold on to it, but keep my Hub on the board. While I was thinking around the expression pedal situation, I also realized that if I want to use the C4 with my DMC 3XL-Gen3, having the hub->expression makes more sense than expression from my ES-5. I can also run a second expression from that pedal should I desire. I've updated my board, removed the feet from the hub (who actually uses those?) and situated it to be better integrated and to make my expression cord integrated and less awkward.

Yep. Sparkle hot pink. The only negative I can think of so far is trying to slap velcro on that excellent finish and the graphics. I've come up with a few schemes to do otherwise if needed.

Also, while I was at it, I did a quick bit of board tidying and also installed a USB (right angle) to the C4. It has a velcro cable tie that's also zip tied under the board. Easy access for editing time:

Check with DMC but that looks like a 1590G enclosure. You could buy a blank bottom plate to stick Velcro on so you don't have to worry about the finish. Cool setup BTW!

Nice books in the background. :)

Good call. That wouldn't be too hard to do. Set it up for the MIDI and other settings you want, then put on a solid cover. I do have an email into them for some tech support on the new 1.6 version of the DMC 3XL software to figure out a quirk so I'll ask. The updated software to use CC to trigger patch changes in the C4 works well...it wasn't exactly as plug and play as they initially said but I did some reprogramming. The board is constantly evolving. I was hoping the Collider would help me shrink it some but alas. Maybe in the future when they make a 600$ delay/verb instead of a 350$ one. ;)

Yeah that's in my music room/work area, so that bookcase is most of that kind of stuff. Obviously a fair amount of reggae/Rasta, most of the Dead reference stuff and whatever else. ;) I also collect both vintage and more modern concert art/posters so everything from Avalon & Fillmore to modern screen print punk/alt stuff.

Could have been worse...a record rack with a thousand or so, or maybe my work bench where I do any electronics/soldering etc. :P
