The Hub will let you attach a single exp pedal to both the HX and the C4? Interesting... I have the Dunlop Mini as an expression as well, and will be quite interested to give this a try. I had my Dunlop connected to my HXFX on my main board, but switched it over to the Hub for my C4/Spectrum. The only thing I could think is to connect the Dunlop to the Hub, and then go from the Hub to both the HX and the C4 via SA cables...? Will give it a try a.s.a.p. and see if the HX can translate the signal from the Hub.

I was think more along the lines of this:
Attach the expression pedal to the Hub, the expression messages get sent down the TRRS cable to the C4. Set the Hub to MIDI OUT and the same expression message gets sent out on the MIDI port which you can hook up to the HX.
 
You can use a trs splitter cable on the input and output the dunlop to use it as a second expression control. I use my dunlop mini this way.

Okay, so because I'm old, I'm not quite grasping this. What I THINK you're saying is, trs split cable from the Dunlop, one end to the hxs, and the other with perhaps a mini plug adaptor to the control input on the C4? Thanks again for the input. Old guys and modern toys, we get there eventually, but only with a lot of help! ;)

You will need a cable that is trs on one side and splits to two ts connectors. The TRS will go into your first device 's expression in and you will connect each of the TS connectors to plug into the input and output of the Dunlop.

The aux out of the Dunlop will connect to your second device as normal.

Now you can control two at once. Hope that makes sense!

edit: For the C4 you would need an additional adapter to change the 1/4" to 1/8"

I am thinking of integrating a C4 into my setup but I have some questions.

1. I am currently using a Micro POG on my board. Latency is acceptable and tracking is excellent. How does the C4's latency and tracking compare for octave up and down duties? Relatedly, can you hit double stops or octaves with the C4 or does it go nuts? I know you can program chords from single notes but I'd rather not do that. I often play legato lines where one note starts before another ends, and I'd rather be able to do that with any pitch shifter I use. The MicroPOG behaves.

2. In terms of getting MIDI information into the pedal, what are my simplest options besides the Neuro Hub? If I am sending MIDI program changes from another pedal, could I route them into my Reflex pedal and then into the C4 through the USB or the 1/8" cable? If I decided not to use the Reflex (it needs a repair, not sure if it'll be possible), are there other options besides the Neuro hub?

I am a big fan of the C4, but the polyphonic pitch shifting on it will not replace your micro pog.

I use a Disaster Area Designs micro.ghost to send midi to my C4. I don't know if any device exists other than this or the neuro hub that can send midi from another device to the C4.

I am a big fan of the C4, but the polyphonic pitch shifting on it will not replace your micro pog.

This is obliviously answered. But I wanted to add my 2 cents as well. I was trying to get something that passed for a POG sound out of the C4. While you can get an effect resembling a POG sound, the closest I could get was a POG with added delay and reverb to it. I just couldn't get rid of the delay/latency in it. No way around it unfortunately.

I'm hoping someday it'll be possible to get that effect. I mean, you can get a mono octave sound.....a really good one IMO....why not a poly octave sound!!???.....huh.....huh SA.... ;) ;)

Thanks to all of you for the super fast replies. As long as I've got you--how does it work as a synthy filter? I've got the Moog 101 pedal which I love but is immense. I've got the Xerograph Deluxe which is nice but a little clean for my tastes. If I wanted to set up a driven or fuzzed filter, would I be happy with the sound and lack of latency? I do like the low end preservation option.

Yeah you are totally right on that point. I just get greedy. It does all this awesome stuff and I only use it for a few sounds. I really need to get jammin with a band again. That's part of the issue. But I did have to add an EHX pitchfork because I couldn't get what I needed out of the C4. I could ditch that EXH if it did do a nice poly octave. Cadillac problems for sure!!

I find the C4 stacks up favorably to the Xerograph Deluxe (which is another digital filter), though I don't have much experience with the infamous Moog. I know at least one TB'er replaced his Moog with one- it sounds like the inherent always-on analog preamp/drive of the Moog is big a part of its special-sauce that the C4 likely won't be able to mimic perfectly, though there are plenty of parameters to tweak to get there and a number of user presets already available that have been made to emulate it. For me the size of the Moog always made it a non-starter for me (and I think having the drive circuit non-bypassable without putting an already giant pedal into its own bypass loop would also irk me quite a bit!).
Latency is not an issue for filter sounds, only potentially an issue when using the poly pitch-shifter voices (the basic mono pitch-shift sounds are great). They've said on here before that their main focus with the synth tones was nailing the oscillators and function of mono modular synths, and there is no more processing space left for a complicated poly algorithm. You can use your POG into the C4s distortions and filters to good effect though.

I have the expression pedal correctly mapped at CC100, and both the hub and C4 appear to be responding with flashing Leds when I step on the expression pedal plugged into the MC8, however the C4 preset with the specific expression pedal config (envelope frequency) wont work.. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Do you have external control engaged and mapped to a C4 parameter in that C4 patch?

“Envelope frequency” isn’t a parameter. Do you mean “filter frequency”? Or “envelope speed”, “envelope sensitivity”?

Is the parameter you’ve selected actually in use in the patch? Remember that there are two filters either their own sets of controls but not every C4 patch uses both filters at once; it could be that you’ve selected a parameter of the inactive filter.

Have you programmed an MC8 expression message on CC100 for the channel the C4 is on? The message is only active for the bank to which it is programmed. If you want it to work on every bank then you’ll need to program that expression message on each bank.

You may want to double check that in your patches, the control source is set to midi when using midi cc100 for expression control.
