Source Audio Sorcerers Society (S.A.S.S) Part 3

I have an expression pedal in a Morningstar MC8 midi controller omniport working successfully with a Source Audio C4. I cant seem to get the C4 to respond to the expression pedal? I'm using a Disaster Area micro.ghost USB HUB with the C4 successfully changing patches etc using MC8 CC messages.... I just cant get the expression pedal to play?

I have the expression pedal correctly mapped at CC100, and both the hub and C4 appear to be responding with flashing Leds when I step on the expression pedal plugged into the MC8, however the C4 preset with the specific expression pedal config (envelope frequency) wont work.. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
If it’s the “Blinding Lights Weekend” patch you uploaded then the problem is that in the external control section you have the wrong source selected. Choose “remote expression (Hub/MIDI)” and it works just fine. The amount of frequency offset you’ve applied is actually quite small (a difference of only 15%) so the effect is quite subtle anyway.

Okay, will check it out now :) Thank you!

Oh well, still nothing... I also changed the original range from 30-45% to 0-100% and still nothing? The expression pedal message is definitely registering at the hub and the C4 (leds flashing), but the expression pedal instruction is not changing the frequency.

MC8 has the expression pedal engaged on omniport 4 as an expression pedal. Bank setting is CC100 range 0-127.

C4 patch is set at external pedal (usb/hub)

It should work?

Can you try connecting the expression pedal to the hub and see if you can get it to work there?

It seems to work with the hub. It's receiving the expression pedal message (indicated by flashing led whenever I move the pedal). However it must be receiving the wrong message perhaps...? I'll be spending some time today trying to iron out this issue. Thank you all for your input, I'm guessing it's something really quite simple that's been overlooked. :)

Use the Morningstar midi monitor to check what is being sent out when you sweep the pedal. Check that the channel specified in your expression message is the same channel the C4 is on.

Post a screenshot of the expression message page for that bank.

Did you change the "External Control" in your patch as suggested to "Remote Expression"?

Don't be too sure that it was their intention, they might not know what they are doing.

I did something similar when I first got my kingmaker fuzz.
True, I suppose they may have been trying to save it to their library, not understanding what the “save to cloud” feature does. I’d presume someone nicking my patch wouldn’t keep the same name and link to my Soundcloud clip of it.

So I have the C4 attached directly to the MC8 via USB now and the expression pedal is registering on the MC8 as working (going from 0-127). The C4 patch is still not allowing the MC8 messages to adjust the frequency as I have programmed. So now I can eliminate the micro.ghost hub as an issue at least. In standalone operation with the expression pedal attached directly to the C4 it works perfectly. Something about the MC8 talking to the C4.... Some screenshots per Quatschmachers request... (The range I have set on the frequency control is perfect in standalone too)
