Source Audio Sorcerers Society (S.A.S.S) Part 3

Question on powering the SA pedals. Will end up eventually with 5 soundblox 2 pedals, PEQ, Hub and a Midi Mouse. Would a One Spot work, or would I need something more like the Voodoo Labs 4x4. Seems someone else was having an issue with the one spot, but not sure if that was the one spot or something else.

I am powering a Hub, 2 SB2 pedals, a tuner and M5 all on a 1spot with no noise or issue. My controller is on a separate power line. I think your potential setup might be too much for a 1spot. I don't see a problem with using 2 1spots as long as your noise isnt too crazy.
My entire board is powered by a few 1-Spots and Poweralls from godlyke. I like both, but I think that the Poweralls are more quiet (either it is better quality or maybe the ferrite core helps?). The Powerall also has an extra 300mA capacity (2000 vs 1700). I think one or two of those should be fine without any problems.
My experience is that the SA pedals will not really create noise when daisy chained, which is not the case with other pedals...
Will pick up a one spot. Received an e-mail from guitar center with a $30 e-cert so will be close to free. Even if it doesn't work out for this, will be worth having.
Also just ordered a dimension reverb, so will be looking forward to getting that in.

Agree 100%, there is zero noise, and I'm playing through nice monitoring headphones where each artifact can stand out. Perfect.
Yeah, same here, good headphones, and, for me, the ultimate test is running it through my PJB combo. If there is noise, that thing will find it!
I use a 1 spot with my SA pedals and have not had any issues. Enjoy the Dimension, it's fantastic, one of my favorites.
I use a 1 spot to power four SA pedals with no noise issues. I power the hub and a few other pedals with a voo doo labs iso 5. All works great and quiet.
I recently went with the PP Mondo as I run 5- SB2's, PEQ, HH3, DExP, HUB, Gecko , IguanaTail 2, Comp., Chorus, POG2 and Blender and A /B. I now have 1 plug! Easy in and out now.

Never!!! I don't see me getting rid of any of my SA stuff anytime soon. There are plenty of retailers that offer 10% discount, or check eBay for 'best offer' listings. I got mine for $149 that way.

Does anyone know if the distortions on the Manta are similar to those on the Multiwave? I seem to have read that somewhere before.
I'm asking because after really enjoying the distortion tone I dialed in on the Manta, I picked up a Multiwave Bass Distortion Pro today secondhand, and while it's a rather cool pedal with nice tones, I can't seem to dial in that exact same distortion tone on it as the Manta. I know I could just use the Manta to get this tone, but the idea of getting the Multiwave is so that I can free up my second Manta preset for another filter or something.
The sound I'm using is a kind of sizzly distortion mixed with the dry tone. I made a recording by sticking my Zoom H4n in front of my amp and recording, here it is - https://www.dropbox.com/s/77kv35ehx0r5joo/bass sound sample.mp3
Just to clarify, the exact sound I want is on the second note I play, the Hothand-filter is just to illustrate the range of the filter and most of the time I leave it in the lowest position like in the second note.
I can't seem to reproduce this tone on the multiwave. The manta is set to distortion type 3 (I think it's the octave distortion), drive turned about 75% and blend about halfway between dry and wet with low retain, and filter 12 (phaser). Yeah, I know there's a phaser on it. So what I did was to completely turn off the drive on the Manta and run the Multiwave into it, so the Manta is purely acting as a hothand-controlled phaser, since in theory that should give me the same result... but after a night of tweaking I'm hardly closer to getting this same sound. The closest I get is with some of the normal or foldback multiband settings, but still not there.
Does anyone know how I can get closer to this sound with the Multiwave?

The Multiwave was designed to be its own beast. First we did the guitar version. Then we did the bass version, which added a clean mix. Then we did the Pro version of the Bass version. Finally we did the SB2 version. Again, all of these grew off of the original Multiwave Distortion (SB1).
Manta had a different development path. The challenge here was to add in a wide variety of distortion types using the very limited code that was left after doing all the filter stuff. Also, they each needed to sound good with the all (or most) of the filter types. Ideally, we wanted to capture some of the OFD, some of the Multiwave, and also allow people to do single pedal Dubstep wobble. The last item required getting some additional synthyness that does not exist in the Multiwave alone. You will note that some folks were adding in synth pedals to do this....and we wanted to make it a one pedal solution. Because of all these things, the Manta distortions really became their own thing and are really not the same as what you find on the OFD or the Multiwave. Hope this helps!

I had all three at one point, the OFD, Manta, and the MWBD. I can second everything Roger posted. They all are different flavors of distortion. I can't help you dial in the multi wave since I sold it a while ago, but from what I remember it was definitely in a different area than the Manta.
