This sounds like you have TAP TEMPO mode enabled for the patch. When you do this the other footswitch becomes the tap tempo footswitch as opposed to the switch-to-this-preset footswitch.

To enable/disable tap tempo for any patch:

* Bypass the effect
* Press-and-hold the footswitch for 2+ seconds for the patch you wish to enable toggle tap tempo
* Release the footswitch once you see tap tempo enabled (or disabled)


However, the Dimension Reverb does not support tap tempo, I'm not sure if that's the specific pedal you're referencing.

This is the exact procedure for Tap Tempo:

TAP TEMPO MODE
The MANTA’s LFO rate can also be adjusted “on-the-fly” via TAP TEMPO. To
enter TAP TEMPO mode, put the pedal into bypass, then press and hold the
footswitch (A or B), to which you would like TAP TEMPO applied. When the
preset LED opposite the footswitch being held starts to blink, the pedal is in
TAP TEMPO mode. The footswitch below the blinking LED now controls the
LFO rate. Press the footswitch at least two times in rhythm to set a new LFO
rate. The LFO rate is reflected in the blinking LED – the time between each
blink represents one cycle of the LFO. Follow the same procedure to
disengage TAP TEMPO. The footswitch that TAP TEMPO is applied to, is also
the preset it is saved to. When recalled, the speed of the TAP TEMPO will
default to the last used setting.

That's awesome. I'm glad to hear how easy it sounds like engaging the tap tempo is on the fly, too. Definitely reinforces my desire to acquire both of these pedals (hopefully soon).

Will OM/Manta-involved "scenes" saved on the Hub remember that a particular saved setting is tap-tempo enabled or no? I know that might interfere with each pedal's two footswitch presets still being recallable within the context of a called-up Hub scene.

That is actually a really good question. Unlike the BEF Pro, the Manta does not have a dedicated "enable" button. As such it is a global setting for the pedal and is not currently set up to be savable in a scene. Perhaps this could change some day, but for now it is as I have described. The true bypass/active bypass selection is also not scene savable, but I think that is the full list.

Ah, the old Hot Hand Wah and wired Hot Hand. Classic set up! One day those things are going to be highly collectable! Interestingly, the Hot Hand Phaser Flanger prices are on the rise since we discontinued it.

rsmith, can the manta and orbital receive midi clock to control the tap tempo? I think I remember reading somewhere that only one of them can receive midi clock through the hub. This is a very important feature to me and I use my line6 m9, Eventide h9, and BEF pro synced together a lot. I would like to do the same when I can afford the hub orbital and manta. Also if it became an updated feature on the Dimension for the echo to cop some delay tones that would be very nice.

You need the Hub to support any type of MIDI with the SB2 pedals, including MIDI Clock.

The Reverb does not support tap tempo, at least in the current firmware version. I agree, tap tempo when in Echo mode would be nice.

The Manta will respond to MIDI clock for Tap Tempo, but not the Orbital. However, Jesse tells me that the next Orbital firmware update will provide that feature.

Alright, so if the tap-tempo SB2 pedals can't have the tap-tempo feature enabled within a saved scene, explain to me how that functionally differs from the fact that they are able to "respond to MIDI clock." I'm not super hip to all things MIDI (yet), but I'm working on it. :rolleyes:

"A SB2 pedal responds to MIDI clock when its in Tap-Tempo mode. Tap-Tempo has to be saved as a preset in the pedal itself. But, you could use the Hub to call up a scene, where it simply selects the preset that has tap-tempo applied. However, you have to have a dedicated pedal preset with tap-tempo applied, to be able to use the Hub to recall a scene that syncs to a MIDI clock. If you are already sending MIDI clock, then when the preset is turned on, it will sync to that clock speed."
