I think the cable + plus box is supposed to together be the new "MIDI dongle", so its like having a device with a typical dedicated 5-pin female input jack (which would clearly be physically too large to actually fit in/on the box itself) and you just plug a standard male-to-male 5-pin cable between it and your controller as you would do with any other MIDI device. Of course if you just want less cables you can buy a specialty MIDI cable like the one linked above. Had they provided one of those instead, inevitably it would either be too short or too long for different use cases, while their solution instead allows you to simply use whatever 5-pin solution you want or already have (including right-angle types like I use) and just hide the box and extra cable under your board.

I took this bass apart and I re-finished the lacquer earlier last year. Although it looks a lot like a Rob Allen it's far closer to a Rick Turner Renaissance in it's construction, playing and tone.

To me this bass pretty much sounds like an EUB. Without the size and cost. It's a 5 string and on a 34" scale.
In this clip, I've used this bass into a C4 (using your patch) > EQ2 for a bit of EQ and into a collider for a touch of Hall Reverb.



I've played a bit without at C4 patch and then dropped it in the rest of the clip.
This bass still needs a bit of adjustment of the Piezo pickup which is under the saddle. The lower strings are very quiet compared to the higher strings.
I have to really dig into the E and B strings to get the C4 to register the note and play the patch thump / slap.

I was considering getting the EQ2, but the price put me off. Instead, I got the older programmable EQ SA170 used from eBay for £100.Very different pedal, I know, but I thought it might be worth a punt at that price. Any Source Audio fans out there who can enlighten me on these two pedals?

If you are OK with mono and fixed freq bands, the SA170 is a killer unit!

Atlas "a-ha" moment... ive pretty much had my Atlas "always on" since it was debuted :roflmao: and I love it. I got a new bass last week and my current Atlas settings werent giving me the warm & fuzzies. Tried the dual band setting for the first time last night and boom, there "it" was. All i changed was the output level. Cant get much easier than that! Now i just need to figure out what its actually doing, lol.. This has been such a killer pedal since day one..

So planning the future board and will end up using all five outputs on a Neuro Hub.

For those who love a super tidy board, have any of you soldered trrs cables to customs lengths? Any particular issues to watch out for? Alternatively, has anyone had any experience with cutting the SA cables to a precise length, and reterminating with a new Jack at say, the Hub end?

I've built a board using 2 Neuro Hubs and 9 SA pedals. If you find the pics in this thread, it fall under the heading of "extraordinarily tidy". I did similar research on building TRRS cables and found that the factory bits are rock solid and thin enough that they can be bundled tidily and tucked. I opted for careful and fastidious cable management rather than building the TRRS cables. Of note, I did build the 29 DC power and signal cables without a glitch. The TRRS cable ends I found were frail and difficult to work with, as well as being clunky and somewhat fragile.

I'm sure the answer is no and Bob C's head is likely to explode at this idea but I have been wishing that the sequencer in the C4 had the ability to do random sequencing or a sample and hold function or be controlled by an external sequencer. I have been spending a lot of time lately with VCV Rack and my B2600 and the randomness really soothes my chaotic brain and would love to add that dimension to my bass mayhem.

No, knobs can’t be repurposed unfortunately on those earlier One Series pedals. Best way around this is using an external MIDI controller/knob array.
