There is always going to be some latency with digital preset switching, but it can be minimized only if there is split processing happening (meaning the next sound is loaded already in waiting so the processor doesn't have to fully switch course into a completely new program). Having this kind of split processor scheme is something some of the expensive digital multiFX and profiling units do (like Headrush and Helix), but it requires dedicating a half of the processing power to essentially a latent task (holding the next preset already loaded and ready) so it is less common in smaller pedals with smaller processing ability (or alternatively you can use something like the "Snapshot" mode of Helix to retain your full processor power, where you are just changing settings of already loaded programs with a button press- which seems basically analogous to the morphing/channel switching in the Ultrawave). I'd guess the sheer amount of stuff happening in these Source Audio pedals adds significantly to the latency because of the amount of processing necessary (not as simple as switching a basic lo-fi digital distortion block). Even early adopters of the Neural Quad-Cortex profiler/multi-FX (one of the most processing-capable digital FX pedals around) have complained of significant latency when switching between presets rather than simply using options to stomp through different settings and blocks within an already loaded preset.
I can't tell if your sample is consistent with MIDI switching of presets on my C4, but there is no "instant" preset switching in any case.
Thanks for your detailed explanation. It makes sense. I think I can work around it now that I have both the UW and the c4. Might mean I need to get the Atlas and another c4 or spectrum too, you know, just in case.
