Source Audio Sorcerers Society (S.A.S.S) Part 3

Anyone having issue with Neuro 3 on Android? Crashes as it opens on my S10 (logo comes up, and then as the login pages move over the right it dies). Force stop, clear data, clear cache and re-install even after a restart I get the same result.

Not critical to me at the moment as I was using to to see what the pedals could do in advance of potentially buying one, but having it working would definitely get me closer to a purchase.

I use it primarily as a preamp with dual band compression, eq, and sometimes some dirt. I have 2 presets for each bass, one clean, and one dirty, then additional presets that will add different dirt, eq, or tremolo.

Excited for the new pedal. I have hopes, but I feel like they're longshots:

1. A tape/vinyl pedal ala Chase Bliss, something like a combo of the Warped Vinyl and Gen Loss
2. Source Audio cracked the code and they're bringing something like the EHX 9 series to market that works for bass. No locked them controls, no four controls on one know with no ability to split, no lack of presets, and no foot switches that feel like you're slamming the door to a walk in freezer when you step on it.

I'm a simple man with weird tastes. I know it won't happen, but humor my dreams.

So the latest social is Roger staring at a load of greatful dead records - on cassette.
Neuro 3 splash shows a red pedal with not enough knobs for tomorrow’s real ease but Degrade, Modulation, Filter and variation.
I’m lost what if can be, being source audio it won’t be a single thing will it? my guess a low fi pedal - tape warble modulation and an envelope like a digital Fairfield shallow water…

Would be an interesting flavour of Source Audio. I'd imagine it would pair well with the C4

I know some of had good luck with the Ultrawave for non-fuzz dirt, but I haven't been able to get it to work for me for that use case. I think it works best for very wild fuzz, which it does wonderfully. The multiband tremolo is also quite fun. Compression is great from it (especially if you want dual band), but with the Atlas out now I'd strongly favour that if you wanted a compressor. So while I do like using the Ultrawave from time to time, I usually don't recommend it as a drop in dirt pedal.

See that's my fear. I get an Ultra Wave and its not really something I'd use. I want to use whatever I get like I do the C4. I don't even use the C4 much but when I do, I'm hella glad I have it. Such a strong synth and octave pedal for me. I don't really need an EQ pedal, I'm still very happy with my Whirlwind X. However, the EQ2 is a 10 band and I can change the frequency/Q on each band. That's huge IMO. The Whirlwind is a big pedal (which I like most times. But now that I'm thinking of putting together another board with my Whammy and possibly wah, I may want a smaller pkg for an EQ) but that EQ2 is tiny in comparison. hhhmmmmmm

This makes a lot of sense if that pedal with the "DEGRADE" knob is the new one.

I've just made up a small board last gig which is C4>Laney Digbeth Pre (in the effects loop is EQ2 + Sushi Box More) and i use the C4 for 2 synthy sounds, a Muff Overdrive, Chorus/slapbackdelay/filter, Low octave and a Distorted Wah sound and it kicks ass. I love my Ultrawave but the OD options on the C4 are crazy good and not to be over looked imo.

Have you tried the Aftershock? I don’t use distortion all that much but I’ve been able to get a good OD and a good fuzz that are both very usable for me.

Yeah. Twice. Idk what it is about that pedal that I can't seem to get a long with. I think I've simply been more than happy with all my analogue drives and fuzzes for many years and my ears and tastes are attuned to them over anything else I've tried. Plus I always end up using the same drive and dist tones no matter what I end up trying. It was probably because for most the stuff I wanted out of the aftershock I needed to work for it more. Came down to me being lazy or just more happy with my plug n play analogue drives.

He is wearing a Nemesis Delay shirt. I'm hoping it's a compact Collider, or a True Spring with Delay options instead of Tremolo.

Honestly I wish they would release a super pedal that could load the firmware of any of their pedals and could change from being a C4 to a Nemesis to a Lunar to Aftershock to UltraWave.

For the EQ2 users, the frequency/Q of the bands, do you have to set those or do you toggle between them?

The reason I ask is because my whirlwind has that variable Q in each band but idk what they’re set to. If that makes sense. I always thought it changes depending on where you set the band. So does the EQ2 act that way as well? I want to be able to mimic/clone my whirlwind.

While great from a consumer standpoint, I have to imagine that would be a nightmare to pitch to sales.

"Here's my idea for our next product, it makes all of our old products obsolete."

With that said, I think it'd be something easier to see in an x2 or x3 type box, similar to how TC Electronic did their multi effect. You get two or three dedicated switches, and a control switch similar to the collider, and you can load up your choice of pedals to the 2 or 3 slots in the pedal. Not a direct replacement for their existing line, but could be a space saver for people that want a phaser after their delay, or stack drives from the Aftershock without having to buy full sized pedals.

I am not knowledgeable with said Whirlwind but chances are someone online has done a frequency chart/graph of the Whirlwind and where the EQ2 is absolutely amazing is recreating these curves. EQ2 is the best pedal Source Audio have done and that is coming from someone who idolises the C4.
