Delayed until the 14th...First helicopter flight attempt on Mars tomorrow!![]()

thanks
Wow! I was very close to 5 years old...but it seems I remember this. Or maybe the news of it through the later years...Human spaceflight began 60 years ago today. Yuri Gagarin launched in Vostok 1 on April 12, 1961 and completed one orbit of the Earth. I can't believe it was 60 years ago.

"OK, Comrade, If you are conscious, you will need to open the hatch and jump."The crazy part (which I only recently became aware of) was that the Soviets had no way to actually land the craft.
Instead, once he had re-entered Earth's atmosphere, Gagarin had to bail out, and parachute back to the ground, whilst Vostok crashed into it.

"What if I'm not conscious?"
"You will be remembered as a Hero of the Soviet Union!"
I just saw an interview with Adam Steltzner (he of the Elvis quiff, and controversial Hawaiian shirts).
In the background were 4 Fender shaped basses, and what looked like a Mesa amp...
With a bassist at the helm, this mission is in safe hands.
Nice to know there's life after bass :
