It is a bolt-on neck with a somewhat curved body with black hardware and says something to the effect of "Made in Korea under license from Stuart Spector Designs" on the back of the headstock.

From what I know, $299.00 seems cheap for a Legend Classic 5 but there's more going on with this bass than is shown in the picture. There is significant finish damage along the control side of the bridge pick-up and along the side of the bridge itself. More finish damage next to one of the control knobs and the bridge pick-up is very loose inside the cavity. There are issues at least with the jack as I had to really manipulate the plug to find a position where I could get a signal to the amp. All of this suggests to me that someone has been fooling with it and didn't do a very good job. I can't see how this damage would be the result of playing or accidentally dropping etc.

I'm not shy about working on instruments so if this is a fixer-upper for a fair price, I might go for it but I want to make sure I have identified it correctly and that it is priced well given all its issues.

Any thoughts?

Sure sounds and looks like a Legend to me. The pickup being loose could just be the screws backed out or the foam was removed from under the pup. If you are comfortable with a soldering iron than fixing or even replacing the jack is easy.

IMHO I like when the finish is wearing off a bit.... if you plan on refinishing the bass, then i say don't get it. I tried that once and it was a lot of work, and not worth it for that price.

If you enjoyed playing it and like how it sounds get it.. the electronics are simply and easy to fix, even if you pay someone it won't be that much money.

Its a Legend Classic 5.
Regarding the input jack. Those models have a very recessed jack if I remember correctly.

I remember playing a new one and 2 right angle plugs had issues like you are mentioning.

That is a great price, I would ask if you can look under the control cavity and see if anything strange is going on inside.

Also in the photos those appear to EMG active PUPs which would be a an upgrade since they come stock with EMG Hzs. The active EMGs make that even a better price.

Green. Too unique (generally speaking) to pass it up. I've rarely seen green basses, and only a few (3 maybe?) spectors.

If it was gold hardware I would have gone for blue, but with the black hardware I figured it would 'pop' better on the green.

I'm guessing Guy.n.cognito ordered #1.

The 3 payments thing really made it accessible I think, much easier for me as I don't have to emergency-sell other basses.

I heard that familar "tone" as soon as the song started :bassist:

He confirmed, it is the Forte X with a OBP2 for the studio recording :bassist:

Green is a great color! I'm tossing between Green or Blue...I've been wanting a blue SPECTOR for a while now and I'm afraid I'd get tired of the Green and sell it.
Yeah about the 3 payments...normally you put a down payment and then you have until it's complete before you have to pay it off. I feel like the 3 payments is a bit of a push.

That band is actually really awesome, too. Their bass player is really talented. The band is called A Wilhelm Scream, and most of their stuff off of the album "Career Suicide" has some awesome bass parts. I plan on learning the whole song and recording it eventually, also.

Also thought I'd add that I STILL get that smile when I pick up my bass every time.
