Excellent sound and playing! I will admit though, when I was clicking the link, I was expecting to hear a cover of the Starship song :) I'm glad it wasn't that though, LOL.

Thanks! I've worked on trying to clean up my technique as I'm getting quite a bit of fret buzz on the neck right now, I plan on taking it in for a full setup sometime this week.

That band is actually really awesome, too. Their bass player is really talented. The band is called A Wilhelm Scream, and most of their stuff off of the album "Career Suicide" has some awesome bass parts. I plan on learning the whole song and recording it eventually, also.

Also thought I'd add that I STILL get that smile when I pick up my bass every time.

Let me quote myself :smug::

You do use the truss rod in combination with your bridge to get the best action.
Once the truss and bridge saddles are in the ball park, you get the best action you can from the 12th fret up to the last fret by adjusting the saddles.
Once you feel this is achieved you adjust (usually tighten) your truss rod to get the best action (hopefully lower without buzz) from the 12th fret down to the 1st.

You do it in this order because, once the bridge saddles are set the truss rod will not affect fretted notes from about the 12th fret up regardless.
However, the bridge saddles can certainly affect the performance of notes all over the neck. Possibly causing you to have to readjust the truss rod for the 1st to 12th fret area again.

Absolutely !!!! I think the main thing is how someone is holding or looking at the bass in reference to the truss rod nut . I always hold my bass upright so I am looking down on the nut from the headstock . With the back of the bass facing me, frets are on the outside .

Seems like phat does about exactly what I do to get my low action . Not sure if any of my basses have the double action rod . I know the ns2a doesn't . Not sure on the Rex . I haven't had to adjust it in well over 2 years . I have sold the euros and USA that I use to have ...

And I'll never own an X body or a Rex or a Coda. They don't appeal to me. The Neck-Thru NS-Body Bass is where it is at for me. No two ways about it.


Same for me i love the neck thru models...whether Ns2,Ns2a or Euro....nothing else for me.

Same with me Jeff. I've been playing my Bolt-on Legend for a few months now...it's a great playing bass, don't get me wrong but there's something about the neck-thru's that's smoother, and of course longer tone sustain, but there's a physical feel to it as well, that I just love about it! ( Thanks Jeff for the compliment back a couple posts ago.) I too rely on the every day bass player that's on here, that's handling their bass on an every day bases, for their opinion and advise. There's an untold wealth of knowledge from all the bassist here in our club. Kudo's to all of you my friends!!! :bassist:

I do as well. I want to make sure I practice as much as possible and to just become a better player. I know it sounds kind of cheezy and vague but I got a bit lazy and didn't practice as much as I should have so I told myself that is the resolution I really want to do.

While I love my neck-thru Euro 5LX, I really love my Rebop 5 as well so I like having the best of both worlds. The Rebop definitely has a different sound and is more punchy which is really good to have in certain situations. I don't think I could just settle on having a neck-thru though but each of us has their own opinions :)

:help: I saw this Spector in my local GC yesterday (the Black Cherry 5 String):

Invalid Link Removed

It is a bolt-on neck with a somewhat curved body with black hardware and says something to the effect of "Made in Korea under license from Stuart Spector Designs" on the back of the headstock.

I'm thinking it's a Legend Classic 5 but I'm a relative Spector newb so I'd appreciate your thoughts.

From what I know, $299.00 seems cheap for a Legend Classic 5 but there's more going on with this bass than is shown in the picture. There is significant finish damage along the control side of the bridge pick-up and along the side of the bridge itself. More finish damage next to one of the control knobs and the bridge pick-up is very loose inside the cavity. There are issues at least with the jack as I had to really manipulate the plug to find a position where I could get a signal to the amp. All of this suggests to me that someone has been fooling with it and didn't do a very good job. I can't see how this damage would be the result of playing or accidentally dropping etc.

I'm not shy about working on instruments so if this is a fixer-upper for a fair price, I might go for it but I want to make sure I have identified it correctly and that it is priced well given all its issues.

Any thoughts?

Sure sounds and looks like a Legend to me. The pickup being loose could just be the screws backed out or the foam was removed from under the pup. If you are comfortable with a soldering iron than fixing or even replacing the jack is easy.

IMHO I like when the finish is wearing off a bit.... if you plan on refinishing the bass, then i say don't get it. I tried that once and it was a lot of work, and not worth it for that price.

If you enjoyed playing it and like how it sounds get it.. the electronics are simply and easy to fix, even if you pay someone it won't be that much money.

Regarding my own Euro - I don't really want to take the time and effort on it considering my fairly limited knowledge, nor do I have money to throw at it. So, someone is buying it from me. He's aware of the issue, and has been after this particular bass for a while so is very happy!

I'm gonna be extremely sad to see it go though.

Does that mean you are keeping the NS-2A?
