Worst case.... If it's a knock off? Did you dislike the years of playing it any less? I don't approve of knock offs.. But a good instrument is a good instrument!

Hey Jeff! I haven't gotten my number yet, not sure how to go about that. I'm lovin' the Spector, though! I had to turn the preamp down to about 30%, it was so super hot, I had to cut it to keep my amp settings the same as my other basses.

I think Trace gives the numbers....Trace my buddy Quitter needs a number....he will be hear posting often i believe....He also likes to drive, like almost 5 hrs to get my ns2a...now thats Spector Love....:bassist::bassist::bassist:

Quitter: My Red NS2-A is said - by PJ Rubal - to also be an early prototype from early '87 w/ no serial number. It has no ridge at the back of the nut (those are called "Volutes") either.

I can't help but think that those 24th fret dots look like they're slightly different from the others...a little darker in the pics, maybe?

Either way, speaking of knock-offs, this is midway down the first page of this thread....

Hard to make out the lettering on the headstock, my first guess somehow is Kawaii: I seem to remember something like this made by them from somewhere many years ago....

I also took my wife to a nice lunch near Buzzard Bay, that's gotta count for something. And, don't discount that it was an EIGHT hour drive round trip! Totally worth it, though! I'm not looking to do it again next weekend or anything, but if you have more Spectors to sell, you never know.

Volutes... I'll have to remember that! Those 24th fret dots are just like the others. I scraped at them a bit to make sure. The picture must just show them darker. This is a great place to get information! You guys are all pretty knowledgeable about this stuff. Good to know.

Flea used a Spector back during the Mother's Milk days and then used a Wal to record Blood Sugar Sex Magic. For the 5 string parts in BSSM, he used a Stingray 5 I think and used Stingray 4's for a while as well until he switched to Modulus. Those had Seymour Duncan MM pickups in them so if you want the Flea sound, you would probably want some type of MM pickup or fix the EMG that is in your Euro.

What year is your Euro and what makes you think the P pickup has gone bad? If it is bad, they shouldn't be more than $100 to replace.

Possibly to no depending on your preamp and pickup config. Why would you want to? Or are you another but what if the battery dies.. guys?

If you have the emg Hz's and the emg BT pre in that (original I believe) you might be able to rig something by replacing a knob or drilling a hole (major no no). If your running std emg's then no.

I've good things about SD in spectors... i had the basslines in a 80s jazz special and i really liked them... I'd replace the EMGs with EMGS. FWIW I have Alembic pups in my ns-2a and i'm going to switch back to EMG
