I've found wiping the strings with denatured alcohol cleans them up and brightens the tone without weakening them like boiling does.
The DR Sunbeams last forever already, but the alcohol helps after

I think you can contact Line 6 for that. I bought a replacement cable for my transmitter with better quality wire and an angled plug.

Hardware store. I've also heard that you can remove the strings and let them soak overnight in the alcohol.

Off topic.....But had a bad night at rehearsal last night...trying a second guitarist (his 2nd practice) and the dude is struggling on the easy songs. Very nice guy but has admitted to my girlfriend that he can't do some of our songs....do we keep letting this guy come and string him along??? He told my girlfriend one finger on his fret hand is non functional. He is playing on my side and all I heard was a$$....got me very discouraged...anyways I might be looking to change amp setup again and maybe selling a bass or two....Looking into maybe an Ampeg Svt4 pro, Thunderfunk 750 or mesa M9.....very discouraged.
If you want your band to be worse, keep him around. If you want your band to be better, get someone better than everyone else.

Don't let that get to you....I often feel stuck / lost / discouraged with guitar players...
Ability is something that can be acquired with hard work, a good guy that you get along with is hard to acquire.
I find that egos get in the way of music all too often and there's someone you can find that is genuinely a nice and humble person, to me it's a lot more important than crazy skills that like I said, can be acquired and learned through hard work.
It's only his 2nd practice too....so depending on how bad he wants to play with you guys, that will determine how much effort he will want to put into this.
Now go get that SVT 4 Pro!

Just say "Sorry, it's not working out" and move on. It's tough I know but it's best. In my last band our second guitarist (fantastic player) quit because of marriage issues. We trudged on and searched. Ended up not replacing him and we turned into a killer three piece band. It'll work out.

Thanks, thats what I said....originally the regular guitarist wanted another guitarist to switch off solos with him and take some burden off him....this guy has come right out and said he can't do solos???....His girlfriend contacted us for him to play. We werent looking for someone but the guys in my band said lets do it.....now they don't want to let the guy down and feel bad....Real nice guy but all he can do is power cords. The other guy does Van Halen, Metallica, etc. solos you name it....this makes no sense.
Yeap....I liked it with one guitarist.....even though its only been two weeks with this guy (once a week practice). It seems like sooooo long ago.
Up until I bought the bass brites I havent really cleaned my string. I just change them ever 3 months.

That's a real bummer. We had to do that with a drummer. He wanted to be in the band but he wasn't good enough, bottom line. Super nice kid.
We gave him more than enough time to learn our stuff and when he couldn't play it... we found a new drummer. If he willing to work hard and shows the ability to progress, give him a shot. If he is only going to play when you guys practice, kindly show him the door.

True...but the funny thing is the first guitarist is just as good guy...we talk all the time on phone. I'm definitely staying with him....he always talks about him not being too good on guitar but does like van halen to the T. Very Humble guy. I was happy with but now its a mess....anyways sorry bringing my problems to this forum...I apologize guys.

Thanks Worship!! We think alike....I actually said that to the guitarist about him working hard and giving him a shot but he showed up to practice late last night....not good for your second practice.He sounded worse last night than the first night last week.

Thanks guys!!!...Im going to take a ride to practice spot and compare a couple basses and see if this amp is going to change or if going to keep it...i might even sell a euro or ns2a or amp...dont know, I'm confused right now....talk to you Gentlemen later......
Thats how I usually do it unless I'm doing work on the bass and have the strings off.
I get a little bit on a rag, hold it in my palm and grab around the string and slide the damp part of the rag up and down the string, kind of scrubbing at any areas where it looks more worn.
It's much easier to do with the strings slack, but I do it with the bass still in tune more often to save the hassle of loosening and retuning. It's not rocket science, as you are basically just cleaning the string of all the impurities that stop it from vibrating properly.
